I just want to wipe that smile off his face - (bbc news just now) as he speaks about the fuel shortages.

Suppose none of this affects him.

Posted too soon ...

Imagine how the most vulnerable in our society feel after years of austerity measures Also the people who have been affected by the ‘hostile environment’ created by the foreign office.

He is smiling because he certainly hasn’t been affected.

DragonDoor · 03/10/2021 00:35

I’m not even going to get into the ‘B’ word

DragonDoor · 03/10/2021 00:35

Or the ‘C’ word

DragonDoor · 03/10/2021 00:37

And I don’t mean Bstard and Cnt, although plenty of words could be used to describe the current government!

KikoLemons · 03/10/2021 00:42

thinkbiglittleone - I'm obviously a bit more cynical than you as I'm not shocked or even surprised. I used to be, many years ago but people voted for, or didn't vote against so many dreadful things. I don't see it changing.
I'm not a supporter of the current government but I'm not in the least surprised they are still in power. In spite of Boris's game-playing.

LukeEvansWife · 03/10/2021 06:02

@DragonDoor

It's okay. You can say bastard and cunt here 😊
FourLaneEnds · 03/10/2021 09:45

@DragonDoor

I really don’t get how it’s THIS issue that has made you realise the Tory party and their leader don’t give a shit about how things affect people.

Is this perhaps the first time you have personally been inconvenienced OP?

Ima

@DragonDoor Not at all. I work in education, for a local authority....crucified by job cuts, removal of democratic powers over schools through the academy system and the never ending budgets cuts, increased pressures, staff leaving in droves through changes for schools.

He infuriates me, does he really think this is all a laugh. Up thread I said I'd worked with kids that did this, but it was an emotional immaturity and sometimes when they were nervous.
Why does the PM do it? Is he advised that he gives the impression he couldn't care less.

YANBU

Snowdropsandbluebells · 03/10/2021 09:50

I'm not in the UK but it shocks me that someone like him is ruling the country.

EatYourVegetables · 03/10/2021 09:56

There you go. The first posts all agree he is a dangerous idiot and wonder how he is still in power, then a poster comes along to say “well I can’t vote for opposition because they are not absolutely perfect”.

Thekolschisonme · 03/10/2021 10:21

@EatYourVegetables agree. Labour have to be tip top perfect and live up to moral standards the tories never have to. I'm waiting for the usual apologists to pile on.

Adirondack · 03/10/2021 10:28

I think psychologists call that kind of smirk ‘dupers delight’. Boris does it all the time.

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 03/10/2021 10:31

YANBU. You would only be unreasonable if you were in any way surprised.

Even when announcing the first lockdown he seemed to be struggling to keep a straight face. He just does not give a fuck about any of it. Not any of it. When he speaks of tragedy and heartbreak it’s impossible to detect any sincerity at all.

He does not care. Not one jot. In that he really is quite extraordinary as a politician and as a person. He isn’t even driven by personal greed or dogma or unshakeable belief he is right (which though unattractive is perhaps understandable). He’s just having a laugh. It’s astounding to me that anyone; let alone so many, can admire him.

BoredZelda · 03/10/2021 16:18

Yes it should be, people should look at how they have treated it's people and decide they want better, decide that they won't allow it to continue and to stop blaming other people for how they cast their vote. Only vote the tories in if you want them to run the country, not because you "can't vote labour" it's a cop out.

Often people vote for Tory because there isn’t a good enough alternative. I couldn’t vote for Labour because as bad as the Tories were, I believe Corbyn would have been worse for the country. That left me with one of the small parties which really were just casting a vote that would put Tories in power. Next time round, Starmer might be a better option, we’ll have to wait and see.

Vindo · 03/10/2021 16:27

He really couldn't give less of a shit, none of this affects him.

rocklamp · 03/10/2021 16:36

He needs his head shaving and made to live for six months, on the dole in a damp council flat with absolutely nothing from his usual life for help or comfort.

That'll knock the smile off the arrogant pig's ugly rotten face.

SirChenjins · 03/10/2021 16:41

It’s one way (amongst many) he demonstrates his complete contempt for the average person in the UK - he literally could not give a shit about us and is only in politics to raise his media profile for when he’s thrown out or resigns, and to line his own pocket.

IsThePopeCatholic · 03/10/2021 16:56

He’s a cynical bastard, he just doesn’t give a shit about anything or anyone - he just wants power.

MardyBoudoir · 03/10/2021 17:01

Marr having to explain to him why it matters that pigs cannot be slaughtered due to lack of workers. Meanwhile BJ sits there shaking his head while it slowly registers. Duh!

TinaWeymouthsBass · 03/10/2021 17:08

His own sister is quoted as saying that Johnson always wanted to be primeminister and always wanted to have been primeminister it's just the bit in the middle he wasn't so keen on.
He's played the game and won, I despair of all the people who have and will vote for him and his simpering incompetent colleagues especially the red wall voters who have held him up as some sort of saviour of the working class.

MadeOfStarStuff · 03/10/2021 17:18

YANBU to expect a prime minister to be capable of acting appropriately but YABU to expect the current prime minister to have a brain cell big enough to spell “appropriate”.

FourLaneEnds · 03/10/2021 17:49

@Adirondack

Thanks for the terminology - 'duper's delight'.

The duper's delight is an emotional boost, or thrill, that some people get when they successfully cheat or deceive another person or organization. ... More frequently, though, people may lie or cheat just for the duper's delight.

Absolutely appalling in relation to our Prime Minister.
Shocking.

self ID stuff

What you mean dismantling safeguarding and Women's rights?

That's not an incidental footnote for a lot of the population.

@EatYourVegetables

Absolutely no-one said that.

^I think this is how it was for a lot of voters. It wasn’t that they liked Boris, they just disliked and distrusted him less than Corbyn. This is the problem with our first past the post system, any vote for one of the smaller parties is wasted.
