Awful side effects after covid booster

absolutelynotcalm · 02/10/2021 16:37

Posting in AIBU for traffic.

I had the covid booster (Pfizer) on Tuesday and have felt horrendous ever since. I am a healthy 49 year old health care worker.

I initially had:
Fever
Chills
Aches
Nausea
Diarrhoea
Headache

This all passes after 36hrs, but since then I have been left with:

Severe headache that gets worse on moving
Blurry vision
Black spots in vision
Dizziness
Nausea
Insomnia
Complete lack of energy

Has anybody else had similar??? I feel like I'm going to morph into my sofa soon and am fed up of feeling rubbish.

Bad headache == phone doctor

Choconuttolata · 02/10/2021 17:03

Severe headache and blurry vision means you need to be seen by a doctor in A&E.

absolutelynotcalm · 02/10/2021 17:32

I don't really feel bad enough to warrant a trip to a&e, I also phoned the doctors yesterday who were not really interested and just directed me to call 119. I tried that and it's useless as I need to speak to an actual person Smile

You can talk to an actual person on 119. I booked our first and second appointments with a human being by calling them. You might just need to be patient navigating the menu.

MrsTulipTattsyrup · 02/10/2021 17:35

And I echo others - severe headache and blurred vision need to be seen.

absolutelynotcalm · 02/10/2021 17:35

The other thing is pain medication makes absolutely no difference to the headache. I had covid last year and it feels like a covid headache. Not covid though as have been tested

...so, go to A and E!

Clocktopus · 02/10/2021 17:37

You need to call 111 and arrange to be seen at either A&E or the walk-in centre for the headache and blurred vision.

lovescats3 · 02/10/2021 17:40

Go to A and E your vision should not be affected

dustybluebell · 02/10/2021 17:42

I know of someone in their 80s who had their booster and had to be hospitalised. Similar symptoms as you OP along with confusion and vomiting. Generally they are mentally well, although physically not in great shape. Lots of health issues.

absolutelynotcalm · 02/10/2021 17:45

Yes I have confusion as well, think of something and 5 seconds later it's gone, feel a bit hazy and hungover

My husband and daughter are out at the football at the moment, I'll wait for them to get back and then call 111 as I don't feel well enough to drive

I don't want to trivialise what you've said but the symptoms you described sound very similar to a cold bug that's going around in my area at the moment, can you be sure you didn't pick up this cold before getting your booster? If so, maybe you should seek medical attention as others have suggested. Take care.

Clocktopus · 02/10/2021 18:24

You might have to wait for a callback from 111 so I'd ring them now to get in the system and then your husband and daughter should be back by the time they ring you back. The symptoms you have are one if those thing that could be something or could be nothing but you don't want to mess about in case they fall into the something category.

Nsmum14 · 03/10/2021 13:50

How are you today @absolutelynotcalm

Goneroundthetwist · 03/10/2021 14:21

Sounds like you have Covid and need a test.

Seesawmummadaw · 05/10/2021 08:38
