I have had 2 runs ins with aggressive men in the past week whilst out driving.
Firstly I want to say that I have never bumped my car or had a driving ticket in the 30 years I have been driving, so I don't think it is me. Also, I go back to my home town quite a lot and I am never beeped, or shouted at by men like I am where I live now.
So, situation 1: I was driving down a residential road looking for a car park space. I came to a parking area and indicated to park in the space well in advance. A man came right up my bumper, literally inches, and I couldn't park so had to drive on. I shrugged as he passed me and he then reversed and wound down his window and started ranting and swearing at me. There is no way this wimp of a man would have done that if I was a man.
Situation 2: I was at a mini-roundabout and the van to the right of me was nowhere it so I went. However, he was going so fast that he didn't even brake as he reached the roundabout and went over the top of it at top speed and only just missed the back of my car and beeped me for about 10 seconds. Baring in mind this was near a school, he could have killed someone crossing the road.
It sounds like I can't drive, but I do not get beeped or shouted at anywhere else. I do think the men where I live are a particularly misogynistic horrible lot.
AIBU to think that women should no longer put up with this shit and from now on start taking reg numbers and reporting it to the police. I think women need to start standing up to these male bullies who now think they can get away with all kinds of shitty behaviour to us, because...well they are getting away with it.
