overcrowded swimming lesson

My daughters swimming lesson is really overcrowded. there is a 3rd of one lane roped off and they are all banging into each other. a couple of weeks ago there were nine people in there. Today there was young man in there with a goatee in the class next to her, she told afterwards she didn't feel comfortable. There are also much younger children in the class. . apart from the fact that you can't learn to swim properly if you are crammed in together. It doesn't seem appropriate to have a pubescent boy in much younger children. When I got home I explained this on a private message and cancelled the lessons AIBU.

Were you told how many to a class and the age range when you signed up? With older children, I guess it depends on where they have put the age cut off. If a older child needs to learn to swim they may need to be with younger children or else adult learners, which may not be any more appropriate.

Find a different swim school. It sounds unsuitable

Its an interesting one OP. Where my kids swim they can be up to 17. And within the pool there might be stage 4 swimmers - mine were aged about 6-7 in that class but I think there are younger, in the lane next to a stage 10 or a Rookies which can have much older kids. I guess you can change the timing of your daughters lesson so the grades in at the same time are lower - but still no guarantees.

Pubescent children need to learn to swim too. Presumably you don’t leave your dd alone.

If the classes are quite cheap they will be filled/over crowed. So it depends
On what you were told at sign up

I’m a bit confused tbh. Are you annoyed there was an older child/young adult in the next lane ( ie not in her group?) if so, I think you are being unreasonable. I don’t think you’re unreasonable to cancel if the group size is too big and the pool allocation too small.

At my daughter’s school she is swimming in about 1/3 of a lane with about 4/5 kids and it is totally fine, there are different classes in other lanes. It seems very normal. 9 kids would seem too many for that space though.

They just sound like crap swimming lessons. Move to a different swim school. Job done.

No he's in the same group. I've cancelled the lessons now.
