WIBU to phone in sick if…

My boyfriend, who I work with, also does?

He was off yesterday (first time since January last year). He’s poorly - aches, sore throat, nausea etc etc. Don’t think he’s going in tomorrow (today!).

I felt awful yesterday evening and have so far had very broken sleep, feel horrendous. Obviously if I wake up feeling better I’ll go in. I’m also never off work.

I just feel it looks terrible if we are both off at the same time. We’ve worked together for five years and never been off at once before. WIBU to phone in sick as well if I need to or should I just drag myself in?

If you live or work together then it would be almost expected that you would catch what he had.

If you're sick,you're sick!

Hope you both feel better soon!

If you're ill, you're ill. Don't take your germs to everyone else.

Thank you. I have an auto immune condition and have gone in a few times this term and last feeling absolutely shit (knowing it’s my condition and not being contagious unlike now) and it was just so hard to get through the day that I don’t think I can face it again.

I have to cover something for a colleague tomorrow and I know it’s going to make things harder if I’m not in but I’m not sure there’s anything I can do about it.

Had a similar situation years ago when DP and I both went down with proper flu. I dragged myself into work, the boss took one look at me and sent me straight back home (in a taxi on expenses as they didn't want me driving). It comforted me that they knew I wasn't faking it, but the effort probably put my recovery back by several days and it was silly to have gone in. These days I'd have just video called.

Hope you both feel better soon OP.

You can’t go to work, you both need to get a PCR and stay at home until you get the results

I don’t have any symptoms of covid. No temperature, cough, loss of sense of smell/taste, sore throat, runny nose… I have full body aches and I’ve just been sick. I don’t think that requires a PCR. DP might get one because of his throat.

Full body aches is definitely part of Covid. For me the biggest problem. Tested positive. Had no throat issues etc but felt exhausted and achy all over.

Get well soon!

Def call in sick, you’ll feel awful at work (and spread it to everyone else). Totally normal to both be off sick if it’s something contagious.

Luckypoppy · 01/10/2021 06:32

Get a pcr. We currently have 5 positive colleagues and 5 positive children with your symptoms! Lateral flow tests didn't pick all of them up.

Luckypoppy · 01/10/2021 06:33

To be fair most of them now have cold symptoms too but the aches and nausea/vomiting was reported by all.

Noogar · 01/10/2021 06:36

If you're both vomiting then it would make sense for you both to be off

voxnihili · 01/10/2021 06:36

Sounds like you work in a school. We have an outbreak at the moment and no one has the typical 3 symptoms - it’s more like a bad cold so I’d definitely get a PCR. We’ve been sending all kids home who have cold symptoms or headaches (as these have been the most common complaints) until they have a negative PCR to try to control it.

Hope you feel better soon.

Mummyoflittledragon · 01/10/2021 07:00

You still need a pcr. This could well be Covid.
