To want to discuss flu vaccine (Scotland)

I usually get my flu vaccine at the GP surgery due to asthma and would normally have had it by now. My GP practice have an automated message saying not to ask about flu vaccines. I asked the receptionist anyway and they claimed not to know much about it explaining that the community health partnership are dealing with it this year and that "they'll contact you". Surgery had no contact number and I can't get through to anyone online. It's frustrating because I want to make my own appointment, at a time that is convenient, somewhere local like my GP surgery and not 3 towns over like my covid jag was. Also concerned that it will be offered alongside covid booster when it's due and I would prefer them seperate due to intense side effects from covid jag. There just doesn't seem to be anyone willing to discuss it. AIBU to be frustrated by this?

@Username916

As above, vaccinations are being phased out of GP practices in Scotland. I think by next year all vaccines will be at vaccination centres :( absolutely useless.
My area is holding a vaccination centre for over 50s to get their flu vaccine every few weeks. I thought it was actually the gp running it though because it says it's for members of this gp only, so how else would they know? Confused

@Glendaruel

If you are entitled to a free flu vaccination, then it's free at boots. Some other chemists do it as well.
Not in Scotland. Only if you are over 65?. If you are under the age limit then you pay for your flu vaccine at the chemist.

Well, that was certainly the case last year for me. Might have changed this year.

The free vaccine has been extended to over 50s this year. Think it might depend on health board too

@containsnuts does this help?

I must be lucky as I've been offered mine through the antenatal pathway already, and my DD (3) has had hers, my DS (5) in scheduled for his at school shortly.

As it happens I had already booked for last week at Boots and I'm no longer antenatal as had my baby early! I think the £15 is well worth taking out the hassle of waiting for the GP if you're really keen to get it.

I'm in Fife and booking is via the local chemist to be done at the vaccination hub that did the covid jags. Me and DD both got an appointment in a week, the flu jag was not given at the same time as the covid boosters.

There are no adverts or posters telling people about it, DD went to pick up my prescription, the pharmacy assistant knows us pretty well asked if she wanted to book flu jags.

We are lucky the vaccine hub is in the community centre we can see from our house so no travelling either.
