I was in john Lewis today and ordered an oat milk hot chocolate

She went preference or allergy

I thought does it matter. I asked for a oat hot chocolate and that's what I should get.

Do you think she was to nosy. Did she need to know?

Because of the risk of cross contamination she might not be able to serve you if you have an allergy, OR she has to follow a different procedure.
I have an serious allergy to a type of food and sometimes in restaurants they don’t want to serve me if there’s a high risk of cross contamination - and they often ask when I mention it if it’s an intolerance or an allergy, or how severe it is.
