To think Vinted will be as bad as EBay?

Having been stung by EBay buyers I haven’t sold anything for ages and saw an advert for Vinted. AIBU to think buyers will be at the same antics and it won’t be worth the hassle?
YABU - Vinted is much better for sellers and worth a go
YANBU - it’s just the same and not worth using

I long ago stopped selling on ebay, what a nightmare. I briefly started when they dumped PayPal as it seemed more secure - 42 days I waited for the money to go into my account! Not again.

I only sell on facebook marketplace now. Either cash on collection or they can do a bank transfer on arrival and I check the moneys gone in before they leave with the item.

I’ve found Vinted to be fine to sell on, the items on there for sale seem better than eBay too - I’ve had some lovely items.

TowelStripes · 28/09/2021 20:24

Vinted is much better for sellers than eBay. Style Sellers UK Facebook group is good too

mellicauli · 28/09/2021 20:27

I've sold on both. Set up/admin better on Vinted. Achieved price better on Ebay.

Gensola · 28/09/2021 20:50

Just been ripped off on Vinted - sent an item over a week ago and it’s showing as delivered but buyer claiming it hasn’t been.

Siameasy · 28/09/2021 20:58

I’ve had no problems so far and there are no selling fees. Now and then they do offers on postage where it’s 99p which means people are more likely to buy your item. I’ve bought loads of nearly new stuff for DD on there eg her school plimsolls and sports clothing

As long as you've uploaded the proof you've sent it, you'll get the money back. Maybe the buyer hasn't received it...??

I think the set up on vinted is ok but I know many people who buy on there and they seem to expect very low prices.

Brefugee · 29/09/2021 14:05

How does it work on Vinted when they say postage is 99p? do you get special labels printed?

TowelStripes · 29/09/2021 14:19

@brefugee, yes, the seller prints a prepaid label for Hermes.

Neveratruerfriend · 29/09/2021 14:37

I've got stuff on both Ebay and Vinted.

Alas I keep getting pings that loadsa people have "favourited" my items but so far nada sales. And my prices are lower than on Ebay.

Yes Vinted seems nice to use from a seller POV and there are no commission fees to pay (Ebay now charges @13%). But without any sales it's just not doing it for me so far.

TowelStripes · 29/09/2021 15:11

How much are you listing items for? I favourite things in the hope the price will reduce in the future. If you have lots of favourites but no sales, may be overpriced potentially.

HarrietsChariot · 29/09/2021 15:15

Anything that involves selling to people online will draw in a fair share of scammers (both buyers and sellers).

The important thing is to never sell anything that you would be too upset if you lost but never got paid for. It's a bit like gambling in that regard, never risk what you can't afford to lose.

Remember as a seller you are responsible for the item until the buyer receives it. Many sellers seem to think their obligations stop the moment it's in the hands of the delivery company. If you can't prove the buyer received it, in the condition you sent it, then you are still responsible. (Signatures and photographs of the package in a doorway are not proof enough.)

Blankblankblank · 29/09/2021 15:22

I’m fed up of ebay -their recent changes have bothered me too-so I thought I would look on vinted . People are asking crazy money for things!
£15 for a H&M dress, £30 for a next shirt.

senua · 29/09/2021 15:25

It's like most things on the internet.
Starts out well. Word gets around. More people join. It goes downhill.
Rinse and repeat.

As cheap as chips! Agree with someone who's already mentioned it - buyers seem to expect very low prices. More Skinted than Vinted.
