If you knew of a situation where a 5 year old child with no under lying health conditions hasn’t left its house or small garden since March 2020 and neither had its parents, plus had no visitors or social interaction-what would you do?

I'd call 111 maybe and ask them to do a welfare check on the family?

ImJustMum · 27/09/2021 23:46

101, ask for a welfare check

Notimeforaname · 27/09/2021 23:46

Can you be absolutely positive they have not left the house,at all?
If so,I would make an enquiry to social services to see if that's something of concern to them.

How do you know this is true for sure?
Notimeforaname · 27/09/2021 23:48

If it were true,of course it would be a huge concern!! It's just hard to imagine, nobody in or out of the house for a year and a half..

WoodchipNightmares · 27/09/2021 23:49

I'd think they were in need of some support from the GP / social services etc., and would make a safeguarding referral along those lines.

I wouldn't, however, expect to hear anything back - you will never hear what happened / didn't happen, and will only be able to hope things improved for the child.

No underlying conditions, that you know of. Extreme medical anxiety, germophobia, OCD, agrophobia exacerbated by lockdown...

But I'd phone 101 for a welfare check just to be sure.

How do you know this? I think something would need to be done if this was the case.

WheelieBinPrincess · 27/09/2021 23:55

You’ve posted about this before so did you do anything after the last thread?

Motnight · 27/09/2021 23:58

I'm also sure that I have read this before.

WheelieBinPrincess · 28/09/2021 00:00

Yeah, I remember the last thread- working from home, can see anyone come or go by the window, weird noises from upstairs, toddler not been out.

nanny2012nanny · 28/09/2021 00:09

I haven’t posted about this before.
Long term lurker as such not much of a poster.
I know it’s true as a friend of mine has been working for them.
Doing online research and running errands.
They live in a a rural position

"Its"

TheChip · 28/09/2021 00:13

If your friend is running errands for them then there is obviously some social interaction happening. You cant possibly be aware of how many others go to visit when your friend isn't there

Why hasn't the friend done something if it is so wrong?
nanny2012nanny · 28/09/2021 00:17

She leaves things in a box on the driveway she has to message when she’s coming up the driveway so they go inside
