Today I received a note from school - apologising for MUDDY CHILDREN

The weather was bad yesterday and school had the nerve to let the children play out in the mud. Some parents have complained that "the children's clothes became muddy" and the school assures us that "this is not something that will happen regularly"

FFS they are 4 years old they SHOULD come home covered in MUD, GLUE AND PAINT - the more the better I have a bath and a washing machine and I am sure we will all survive.

Such a shame that these parents dont use this indignation on something more productive.

So where are the Mums who dont like their kids to get dirty, and complain to school ? Obviously not MNs

its sad some parents dont see the good its doing their kids!!

i often get comments from people at how lovely it is to see dd walking along picking up leaves stones sticks etc. with welly boots and rain coat and happily splashing in puddles with me not giving two hoots! i just dont care, she loves it and it doesnt hurt her!

some people need to get a grip!

Oh come on, be reasonable. I'm only having a child because I'm going to look so much better taking her round with me. Lots of my friends have them and they seem quite fashionable at the moment. If I'd realised for a second she might get dirt on her I'd never have got pregnant in the first place.

DD goes with a second set of clothes now as she was always coming home in nursery clothes where she had got muddy, they keep apologising and I keep saying she;s muddy, she's happy, yesterday she went swimming in a puddle so they have suggested she comes in with an all in one thing.

The muckier the kids the more fun they have had imo.

mintydixcharrington · 06/12/2007 17:20

at my kids school they go out to play in boiler suits and wellies every day, just so they can get as muddy as they like and not have to sit around in dirty wet uniform afterwards

it is one of the things I love about it

dd2 reception class has an outdoor play area which is used whatever weather. they have a collection of brollies for the class and loads to do out there. last week they weaved materials in the railings, the weaving is still there now and it looks lovely.

at nursery age, i did send dd2 in boden clothes, but only baggies as they are so hard wearing and washed well. i am quite upset as she actually managed to put a hole in one pair after wearing them once a week for errr 2 years!! lol. might get the sewing machine out and tuen them into shorts for next year as its only the knees that have gone.

but only ever used nursery logo t-shirts or cheap ones.

let kids ghet muddy, i always says 'everything is washable including the kids'

Green glass Goblin - the first part of my sign would have been ok (and professional), but I'm not sure the part about it not being a fashion show would go down too well

I expect they don't want to get their fancy cars dirty.

I went to park with a friend in the summer and she wouldn't let her 3 play in the fabulous stand pit in case she got sand in her Lexus.

contentiouscat · 06/12/2007 18:04

LOL nametaken I expect they are worried about muddy handprints on their 4 X 4s

Im just pleased they are getting outside and getting some air like I did when I was small.

I would so LOVE to know which parents it was, no one ever admits it do they

School are now saying they will "review the situation" I will be so cross if they stop forest school because a few parents are killjoys

the parents in question should be pretty easy to spot IMO - pristine appearance and pristine cars!!!!!
