AIBU to not eat if I’m not hungry?

I had a smoothie for breakfast and a pasta pot for lunch, plus a banana. Got tea for DH and DS, but didn’t feel hungry so didn’t eat. DH is now trying to get me to eat, saying I’ll be ill if I don’t. I’ve had plenty of water and I don’t feel headachy or faint or anything. I’m due on any day, feel bloated and just not hungry. Why do we eat when we don’t feel the need, just because it’s meal time?

I try to only eat when I’m hungry. It’s the norm for me, although it doesn’t always work.
Who says we should all eat 3 times a day? Everyone is different and has different appetites. If we go back to how nature intended in caveman times we wouldn’t have eaten 3 times a day, it would have been feast or famine. In that respect “mindful eating” is a good habit to get into. If we all only ever ate when we were hungry as opposed to bored, needing comfort, etc then I don’t think the obesity problem would be the crisis it is. (Obviously this doesn’t include diabetics who need to keep blood sugar at certain levels or pregnant women, and possibly other medical exceptions).

I think you are being entirely sensible, I am overweight and I eat just because it's 'meal time' ... in fact I am very rarely 'hungry' because eating has just become a habit. I am trying to address it .... not easy because we are all brainwashed into thinking we need three meals plus snacks a day, most social occasions seem to be based around food, we are guilt-tripped into having 'family mealtimes'... but of course you can be with your family and have a cuppa or a drink of water (or nothing) and it doesn't mean you love them any less Confused.

Well done for NOT eating if you are not hungry.
