DH bought pram after family have us one

My sister had an icandy pram for he LG who is now 6. It's been in storage for a few years.

I'm now pregnant and my parents got the pram out of storage (it had been in their shed) and cleaned it up and drive it 4 hours to our place.

There are a few small rust marks on the metal and the fabric is faded, but it's otherwise in perfect working order.

DH was worried that people would judge us for having a pram where the fabric was faded. He has come home from work tonight with a travel system that he found on a buyer's site.

I don't mind him getting another pram, but I feel sick at the prospect of having to tell my family that I no longer want the travel system that they have brought for me for the baby. I feel like they'd see me as ungrateful and snobby.

What would everyone do in this situation?

We also had two prams and a pushchair.

I would be annoyed with DH for not discussing it with me though.

Thanks for all the messages. We'll keep the 2 prams. The one that DH bought has a car seat as well that fits onto the frame, which will come in useful, and I could use the icandy for a spare. If family come to visit, I'll just tell them we got another, but make a point to use theirs whilst out and about with them. That way, they feel like they've helped, but DH also gets the pram that he wanted.

What a waste of money tbh I’d be a bit annoyed.

My husband's parents bought an old, dirty, outdated stroller from his cousin's yard sale without asking and made. Huge show of their generosity. Was a lot of w

Where did DH buy the pram from?
I’m not sure what a buyers site is but it sounds second hand? If so it’s not safe to use the car seat as you can’t verify it hasn’t been in any accidents.

Pressed post too soon-worn out baby supplies. I was pissed as they bought the first two grandchildren brand new big ticket items. It wasn't a money issue they were millionaires. We bought top of the line stroller and they demanded to know the reason. Yeah for some grandparents it's a power play.

Also yes as other poster said did your husband buy 2nd hand car seat?

RowanAlong · 27/09/2021 21:49

I’m with the others, both will come in.

However, my first thought was though, I’d hate not having any choice in the pram for my first baby! I’d have wanted to choose it with DH..do you actually like either? You can say no to both if they’re not what you think you’d use.

That said, if it’s your second baby, then you probably will be more relaxed about it..it’s just a pram after all. The baby’s the important bit 🤣

The one that DH bought has a car seat as well
Please don’t use a second hand car seat bought from an internet stranger, it’s so dangerous as you no way of knowing if it’s been in a crash.

Yeah 2 prams is a good idea.

We've got one with bigger wheels, better for long walks, and one that's compact which is good for nipping to the shops.

I wouldn't worry about it.
