AIBU to be unhappy about this flooring (pics)

Just had new LVT fitted in hall and living room (the glue down type) by a flooring company I found on Checkatrade. On the whole the floor looks great but there are some places that have slight gaps meeting the skirting/architrave.
Would you ask them to come back and rectify it or am I expecting too much?
I haven't seen LVT fitted elsewhere so have no comparisons. DM thinks it's fine and I'm being overly critical and no one else would even notice!

It doesn't look great. With wood floor, that's where the beading type stuff would cover it up I suppose. Is it not supposed to be sealed or something around the edges? We have lvt in our downstairs cloak and it's got some sort of almost invisible clear sealant around the edges, not sure if that's because it's a bathroom type thing though?

Kindertonguehappierlife · 27/09/2021 19:55

I’d be annoyed but I’d never notice it in anyone else’s house

Mseddy · 27/09/2021 19:55

We have LVT. It's got sealant around the edges much like a bath or shower type thing. If water gets under it'll lift. LVT is quite sensitive to water, like you can't use a steamer on it. So yeah I'd contact them and ask about having the edges sealed

icedcoffees · 27/09/2021 19:56

It doesn't look finished - shouldn't it be sealed at the edges?

LtDansLegs · 27/09/2021 19:56

Looks like it would annoy me!! We have similar downstairs and it does have a sealant all the way around the edges (assuming for similar reasons / wonky skirting boards on older walls!), like a wood coloured beading.

Acebobase · 27/09/2021 19:57

Ours also has an edging of sealant around where the lvt meets the skirting board. The company that fitted ours came back after a few weeks once it was settled to glue down any areas that had lifted. Maybe just give them a bell and ask when they are coming back to do the edging and the areas that have settled (that way you're telling them you expect that)

Is this solid wood? If yes, it’s a fairly standard practice to leave gaps. Wood expands and contracts with temperature. If no gaps are left, it’ll bend and warp.
Have you considered putting in some beading to make it look tidier? Please choose beading in the same colour as your skirting board (not wood colour - it looked awful in wood)

Acey68 · 27/09/2021 19:57

Yes they have sealed it with clear sealant but it doesn't cover the gaps being clear. The reason I got LVT is because I didn't want beading, but assumed there wouldn't be any gaps! Is it even possible to replace specific planks without have to redo the whole floor?

Should the sealant be a colour rather than clear to cover to gaps?

@Acebobase, I may just do that! What colour sealant did they use for yours? The clear sealant obviously doesn't hide the gaps so maybe I should ask them to use a coloured sealant?

From the pictures it definitely doesn't look like they sealed it op. Our sealant is clear I suppose but cloudy ish, it finishes it off and makes it neat.

SusieBob · 27/09/2021 20:29

LVT still needs an expansion gap, usually hidden by trim molding. Did you actually agree they would fit molding as well?

FellInLoveWithABanana · 27/09/2021 21:37

We have LVT and the fitter came to fix snags about a week after it was laid, and he sorted out all the issues. I would ask them if they’re doing a snag test.

Ours is white sealant to match the skirting boards
