To say that the Gov needs to take control of fuel buying

It's not just the fuel or lack of it, it's the enormous queues in the vicinity of every petrol station.
I usually drive to work but have no fuel left in my car - so I'm currently on a bus in the London suburbs and already 45 minutes into what should be a 40 min journey - and I'm not even halfway there yet!!!
Should today not be petrol for keyworkers and blue badge holders only? Perhaps then they could create some order for fuel buying, even if it was just alphabetical by number plate.
At least then the roads would be clear for emergency services, public transport and those who are lucky enough to have fuel.
They have to get a grip on this on the ground because the country is grinding to a halt. We stayed at home for Covid, can we not stay at home for a couple of days now?

@GreatPotato that's ridiculous, near me we have a petrol station off a main road into a town with barely any space to queue on the forecourt itself, so you have cars indicating to turn right waiting to turn into the petrol station and blocking access to the whole town. People trying to leave the petrol station are then blocked by the queue trying to come in! The police need to move people on, it's not ok to gridlock the whole town.

@HotPenguin

I think the police need to get a grip on queues for petrol stations that are blocking traffic flow, and I can't believe there aren't already contingency plans to put in place 30 pound limits etc.
Something definitely needs to be done about the queues disrupting traffic flow. I don't need any bloody petrol (light came on on Tuesday so I filled up, incredibly glad I did now) but my workplace is right by a petrol station so that's been a nightmare.

Shit like this just makes me think we are a country of clowns, run by clowns, with no discernable leadership or common sense as a whole.

100%

Just when you think this country can't be any more of fucking embarrassment we surpass ourselves yet again.

And if Sheila down the road doesn't make it to work she doesn't get paid. Her family will struggle. If Bob doesn't make it to work he will lose his job as his attendance has been quite bad due to him having to isolate many times. His family will struggle. Etc....

And if Sheila down the road needs medical attention she won't be at work...and if Bob has school age kids, he will have stay at home to care for them...

It's more expensive than the supermarkets, but I just thought when I get down to a quarter full, I will go to the village one. Surely a few more days, and this madness will be over.

I thought the same. Now the village garage doesn't have any fuel and doesn't know when they will get more. I'm stuffed.

Next time I'll be first in the panic buying queue with a boot full of jerry cans.

I seems to me that the biggest issue is queues rather than actual shortages. Doesn't a limit on purchases make that worse because people will have to go more frequently.?
