To ask what these bugs/flies are that are in my house?

Since later in the summer there seems to be lots of these little fly things upstairs in my house. They are about the size of a 5p maybe slightly bigger with legs spread out!
I live in the country so lots of fields around not sure if that makes a difference but I really need to know what they are!
Does anyone know please?

Are they green ?

I have a few that looked like this a few years ago at the same time as a number of ladybirds

The ladybirds disappeared and the flies did too

There are loads of different types, these look like one of them.
The good news is they’re easy to squish! The bad news is they stain the walls

The green ones are lacewings, don't kill them, they're beneficial insects.

I didn’t I caught them and threw them out of the window like I do with spiders (of the cat hasn’t played with them)

Only seen them around ladybirds 🐞

It looks more like a midge.

Do you have houseplants? Looks a bit like a fungus gnat

Do midges ‘zzzzzzz’ ?

I was going to say mosquito, they look like culex pipiens. Prefer to feed on birds than humans but will come inside when cold out. Could be coming up your drains
