I know this is AIBU, but posting for traffic.

Which of them would be the best to take a few 10y olds to buy sleepover supplies? So PJs, trinkets, etc?

Many thanks.

@FudgeFlake

Why do you need new PJs and trinkets for a sleepover?
For fun?
gaggiagirl · 24/09/2021 21:25

I'm 200 meters away from a huge b&m it's where I go for milk....then spend £17 per visit on all of the things!....to answer your question B&m do an ok range of kids pyjamas, huge snack range and lots of other exciting stuff like crafts, stationery, marshmallow kits, chocolate house kits, cookie kits, fluffy blankets. I love it there.

Presumably for fun and because she doesn’t have a stick up her arse.

Let's drink wine.

We usually send out Nanny to do something like this, I thought every did this ? Hmm

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 24/09/2021 21:53

that should read 'everyone' not 'every'

well the proofreader's in for a mouthful in the morning
(not a euphemism)

Because capitalism!! We all need to be convinced that fun=consumption and need to keep buying single use junk, otherwise the pennies stop circulating, GDP falls, and the economy is fucked.

Fizbosshoes · 24/09/2021 22:15

@YerAWizardHarry

Yes it wasnt really a loophole because they do sell essential items, as you listed (as well as non essential) just like supermarkets

goingbacktothecaves · 24/09/2021 22:18

@Fizbosshoes

If you'd asked this last year you would have been flamed because it was all the people going to The range and B and M bargains that were spreading covid! (It apparently didn't circulate in JL or waitrose Wink)
Hard for Covid to circulate in a closed JL who didn't claim they were an "essential retailer" and Waitrose customers used hand sanitiser and didn't all claim to be mask exempt.
fantasmasgoria1 · 24/09/2021 22:23

Personally I find home bargains to be better than b&m. There is just more choice.

RumpoleoftheBaileys · 24/09/2021 22:27

Ah yes. You caught me. HUGE CAPITALIST (no pun intended).

Home Bargains is the best by miles. Not sure they do PJs but sweets, wine etc are much cheaper here.

Tiramiwho · 24/09/2021 22:37

@danni0509

B&M or homebargains. I love both but prefer home bargains. I’ve been to both this morning and came away with a bag of random shite.

These two shops make me very happy 😂

Oh yes! That blissful feeling of relaxation as you enter Home Bargains and smell all the laundry products! I can spend a good 45 minutes in there on any given day 🤗
RobertaFirmino · 24/09/2021 22:40

Waitrose customers used hand sanitiser and didn't all claim to be mask exempt

Yes dear, of course they did.

BoredZelda · 24/09/2021 22:55

Aww @RumpoleoftheBaileys this is where I seem like I have a stick up my arse as I don’t drink. But I will certainly pour you a glass and I’ll eat chocolate 😂

I live next door to a Waitrose. Everyone, and I mean everyone, is still wearing a mask inside it. During lockdown I didn’t see a single person without a mask in there.
Snoopsnoggysnog · 24/09/2021 23:25

Back to the OP, I love this idea even if it’s a bit wasteful. Presumably most of the stuff you’ll buy is consumable. And my DD would love this so I am going to steal this for her next birthday party. DH will not approve of buying shit but hey ho.

OrangutanLibrarian · 24/09/2021 23:32

Were you visiting home bargains and Waitrose on a daily basis? How do you know no one was wearing masks in HB? And that everyone in Waitrose was?

Aposterhasnoname · 24/09/2021 23:44

OP, you’re doing it wrong. Obviously you have to go to all three.

liveforsummer · 25/09/2021 06:03

@BoredZelda

If you'd asked this last year you would have been flamed because it was all the people going to The range and B and M bargains that were spreading covid!

It was actually because they were using the “we sell food” loophole to get round the closure of stores selling non essentials. This worked particularly well for them during the pre Christmas closures and they mopped up a huge amount of retail spending whilst other non food retailers, particularly small independents really struggled losing that trade.

Many stores had the non essential aisles closed off though - and for many it's an affordable way to buy snacks and cleaning products. Definitely had no problem with them being open
IggyAce · 25/09/2021 06:08

I’d pick home bargains if you have a larger store you may find pjs. They have a far superior selection of beauty face masks than the other 2. They usually have a good stationary selection and craft sets too. Home bargains definitely has a great selection of snacks, sweets & drinks. My dcs love the slush puppie pouches that you freeze at home.

Well it really depends where you are as we have a bit of a trek to home bargains and the closest one is a bit shit so if choosing one then B&M would be my go to. My friend had an amazing home bargains though and I always pop in when I'm down visiting . The range doesn't really sell all the required tat for sleepovers, discount that. I agree with a pp though that of the option to visit all both convenient I'd do that, maybe add in the pound shop too 😆. Dc are still working their way through the face masks etc that they got at the last sleepover they attended, they love using them

liveforsummer · 25/09/2021 06:11

P.a everyone here is still wearing a mask in b&m too, at least they are whenever I've been in 😆

Belledan1 · 25/09/2021 07:21

Do you have a big primark? Def be able to get the nightwear and they do lots of cheap trinklets. I prefer home bargains to Band M though.
