Rush to hold a vigil

Does anyone else feel like there’s a rush to hold a vigil for someone killed? Sarah Everard went missing on the 3rd March, her body found on the 10th, a vigil held on 13th March. It felt like the right timing.
Recently after the mass shooting in Plymouth they held a vigil just 24 hours later. I mean jeez, they were still scrubbing blood off the pavements, people must still have been in shock, not even started to process what had happened but the point of a vigil is to remember and reflect? How can you do that so soon? It feels like people feel they should hold one because otherwise it looks like they don’t care, but to me it comes across as crass and inappropriate timing to do it so soon, it’s almost a race to hold it. I m sure it’s well meant, but becomes a tick box if the meaning of it is not valued.
