So i was reminded of this today. Not a big deal or anything but I do want to get some views.

So when I turned 16 my mum and dad were obsessed with me getting a part time job, but I was still in Year 11 (September birthday) and couldn’t get one. Eventually answered an ad in the paper. My ‘job’ looking back was scamming people Blush I had to go to pubs and clubs and ask for donations to charity, then I kept 25% of what I collected.

My mum didn’t like it but didn’t stop me. My dad encouraged it. I feel really shit about it now.

Isn't this how most charities work? I know someone who works for one shaking a bucket, and they keep 50% of what they have in the bucket at the end of the day.

30+ years ago at 16 with fake ID we were all frequenting dodgy pubs in dodgy areas 😂

Thing is OP, in 1994 it wasn't like today when a parent storms about going nuts every time they perceive their child has been morally wronged. I think there's probably a lot to be said for allowing children to learn and make their own mistakes providing they're safe

I also think 16 in 1994 is different to 16 in 2021. I was also 16 in 1994 and my parents didn't have a clue what I was doing most of the time, there was much more freedom for kids and less fear of things going wrong.
