To be upset there's no GP Appointments for my child

Either face to face or on the phone! What is going on? Where are all the GPs?
My primary aged daughter is struggling with her mental health..there's issues I won't go into but she needs a referral to CAHMS and I was hoping the GP could help us with this. I ring up and there are never any phone appointments available, they just say ring back later. I was in the phone queue with 11 other people. I said to the receptionist before, "could I possibly make an appointment in advance? I don't mind waiting a couple of weeks." But no..not providing those either. Our local A&E is over run and I suspect this is why. Even the receptionist sounded disheartened

It seems to depend very much on where you live. I called my GP at 10am this morning (DC has an odd rash on his leg - no other symptoms), and was not expecting an appointment anytime soon but the GP called me back at 3pm. DC is 10 months though so this might have made some difference.

Thanks everyone appreciate the advice. My daughter is 10 so in year 6. I will try and go direct to CAHMS as a lot of posters have suggested, I didn't realise you could self refer..we are located in the north west. If that doesn't work I will try through school 🤞🏼 sorry to hear there are others suffering too 😞❤
