Spikes on our fence

NDN (not a particularly nice man), has put spikes on our fence. A fox gets into his garden and without asking he has put spikes on the fence we own.

The fox does nor live in our garden, we have a large dog, so they just pass through and then onto where ever.

I am not keen on the fox, but neither do I want it to get injured from the spikes.

Do I just remove the spikes, or have a discussion about it first?

I presume as we own this fence, he has no right to just decide he will put spikes up?

Speak to him politely, preferably with a friend as a witness and explain it is your fence and he cannot attach anything to it without your consent. Ask him to please remove them by a set date or you will remove them and return them to him. Stay calm. There are other ways of deterring foxes if that's his issue. If he refuses you can escalate to 101 for advice on next steps or if he is renting to his landlord

4 years ago my ndn's got a new kitten, currently fast asleep next to me. I have a large garden which runs behind ndn's and their ndn's. I was out in my garden cutting back and trod on plastic strips with spikes put on top of the wall by the ndn's 2 doors away as they didn't want the kitten messing on the gravel. I found 17 of the bloody things, which are sold by Coopers of Stortford. I went ballistic, but the cat had knocked a couple in their garden and the 6 year old hurt himself, reinforcing my point.

These were brown and hidden under bushes

I've decided when he is in his garden tomorrow, he's always in his garden so he will be.

I'm very breezily going to see Hi NDN, can you remove those spikes from my fence?

No justifying, no explanation, no conversation.

Just a polite statement.

Definitely get them removed, if its your fence then if any child or pet is injured you would be liable.
