Manager may want me in despite COVID

Posting on here for traffic hope you dont all mind just wanted an answer quickly!

My DD has been feeling unwell so has been off school and taken a lateral flow which has come back as positive. I've took her for a PCR test this afternoon and awaiting results. Thankfully she seems to have a very mild illness - temperature, headache, a little sickness.

As a family we're off work at the moment (DH has the week off. I'm back in tomorrow) so I spoke with my manager today for advice. I was told that as long as I continue to test negative on a lateral flow I'm okay to go into work.

My question is - if DDs test comes back as positive are we all supposed to self isolate? This was my understanding and thought the government's advice.

Or do I continue to test each day and go into work as the manager seems to want me to do?? FYI i work in very customer facing role.

Thanks for your guidance!!

Officially no you don’t have to isolate, but you are advised to take extra precautions such as mask wearing and social distancing, and to take a PCR test

Councilworker · 21/09/2021 18:32

If you are in England and fully vaccinated then you do not need to isolate. There are some other exemptions too

Northernsoullover · 21/09/2021 18:32

Have you been vaccinated?

Reallybadidea · 21/09/2021 18:32

You don't need to self-isolate if you're double vaccinated. Otherwise you do.

emmathedilemma · 21/09/2021 18:32

It depends where you live. In Scotland you’d be considered a close contact and don’t have to isolate if you are double vaxed, have no symptoms AND a negative PCR test. In England I think it’s only advised to get tested.

Starlightstarbright1 · 21/09/2021 18:33

If you are double jabbed no but obviously despending on age someone will need to stay home with Dd.

And yes i would wear a mask and socially distance as much as possible whilst out.

This only applies if you have received two doses of vaccine. Unvaccinated contacts still needs to self isolate.

And I am not sure if this rule (which I know applies in England) also exists in other parts of the UK.

Check gov.uk - the rules are set out very clearly there, by country.

LittleLadyCece · 21/09/2021 18:36

Yes both me and DH are both double jabbed. If she is positive due to our work patterns there will be someone with her whilst she needs to isolate. I'm an estate agent so to be honest I'm just going to ask the manager to keep me branch based rather than doing viewings. Even though I'm double jabbed I'd hate to take the risk with other people. Thanks all for your help Smile

Check the relevant government website for the area of the UK in which you live.

Your boss is saying you cant just take it upon yourself to decide you're isolating if there is no reason for you to do so.

The rules have changed, read up on what you need to do and follow the advice.

Autumngoldleaf · 21/09/2021 18:53

Yep... Double vaccine/keep going.

LittleOwl153 · 21/09/2021 18:57

Yes youre good to work give -ve tests. Whats more if you have other kids they will be required in school until/unless they have a +ve test
