Just that really...realised the other day they all seem to have vanished from my Facebook newsfeed...have these huns finally woken up to the fact that these are a scam and they will never make any money.

I’ve got a friend who’s on her third in as many months. The latest appears to be about providing nutritional food packs to people in need around the world (as opposed to non nutritional I guess). This one will probably only have a short lifespan as I’m sure they’ll have eradicated world hunger by Christmas. Hmm

Heathcliff27 · 21/09/2021 08:22

I've still got a body shop hun on mine plus someone who's plugging some sort of health drink, she mixes stuff with water and videos herself drinking it, she still looks the same as she did a month ago so maybe the health benefits are invisible Grin

TokyoTammy · 21/09/2021 08:23

Have you seen the LuLaRoe documentary on Amazon? Real Eye opener on MLM

TokyoTammy · 21/09/2021 08:24

It's called LuLaRich

Pineapplemonkey · 21/09/2021 08:28

Worry not, all the Body Shop ones in the world are currently in my vicinity and posting on Next Door.

DogInATent · 21/09/2021 08:30

They've all gone quiet whilst they slowly run their index fingers under the long words study the pictures to get distance learning certificates in Functional Nutrition judging by comments I've seen in my feed.

I also think quite a few of the type that get sucked into MLM are the type that would be vulnerable to being sucked into Covid denial and anti-vax conspiracies, but I've not seen anyone trying to sell homeopathic horse wormer through the medium of insta yet.

Soubriquet · 21/09/2021 08:32

There’s a few in my local fb pages selling perfumes, candles and wax melts but don’t seem to be actively recruiting anymore

IARTNS · 21/09/2021 08:35

I'm on a FB group for a brand of dresses - every time someone asks for a make up/moisturiser recommendation the Tropic huns pop up. Wish admin would block them tbh.

saraclara · 21/09/2021 08:36

MLMs thrived under lockdowns. And many women were more desperate for money if partners jobs were vulnerable. Life has opened up now, and they're not just stuck at home with nothing better to do than pester everyone.

Figgygal · 21/09/2021 08:39

I have one
Friended me couple weeks ago as our kids are starting reception together expect that’s a fantastic opportunity for people like that all these new contacts to be made
Now being spammed with how fantastic urban retreat is, endless diet products firming products make up
Yawn!!!

Boilingicicle · 21/09/2021 08:41

Apart from one forever living and a tropic Hun on my nextdoor feed I have one neighbour who's foray into forever living seems to have died a death, all's quiet in my neck of the woods. I agree more awareness of these cults/scams might well be helping people steer clear. That Lula Rich documentary was an eye opener.

All but Herbalife has disappeared from mine and thank god! The amount of times I responded to a DM to say they don't own their own business so stop trying to sell it to me like that. Evidently they aren't keen on that.

lunar1 · 21/09/2021 08:45

Just one Tropic one left on my social media, I've managed to resist so far, I'm allergic 🤣

I'll never forget my school friends parents signing up to Amway (I think that's the name). They had slogans and buzzwords stuck up all over the house, and a picture of a castle that they would eventually earn. They became creepy as hell for a few years over it until I stopped going round!

throwitin · 21/09/2021 08:50

@TokyoTammy yeh I saw it. So much to unpack. All the characters. The owners of the company and their family. spoiler The twist at the end with the nephew! I watched all four episodes in one sitting. I wish they showed more about the people at the bottom though. The people in it were obviously doing ok and were just bitter when it went south for them - there was only Blevins and maybe one other who felt any remorse and were trying to help people get out. I need to start on her podcast now!

DanielRicciardosSmile · 21/09/2021 08:50

I was wondering the other day if Younique had gone bust as I never see anything about them now.

IsAnybodyListening · 21/09/2021 08:58

I had a message on social media a few weeks back from an old school 'Friend' I hadn't spoke to in years. It was really nice and surprising to hear from her. After a few messages back and forth, BAM she sends me a link to her 'Business', tries to add me to her group and offers me a discount on fuck knows what.

These people are utterly brainwashed.

SudokuWillNotSaveYou · 21/09/2021 09:00

In addition to the idea that more real remote working became available (which I believe)…

I was thinking about all the Herbalife and Young Living or other juicing and essential oils MLMs because so many of them were “health” related, and maybe it’s terribly morbid, but I think it has something to do with the fact that people could perhaps use this stuff and “convince” themselves some lemon oil (that’s actually shit quality) got rid of a cold, but no matter how much “Thieves Oil” or “carrot juice” they put on or in them, people they know either got COVID or died of COVID. It’s vaccines, genetics we don’t understand yet, or luck. COVID really put paid to all these absolute shite MLM health claims - at least, I maybe thought hoped so.

Lavender24 · 21/09/2021 09:06

My friend still does Body Shop and my cousin (who seems to have f done every single MLM scam under the sun) is now plugging makeup and perfume but it's definitely dried up in general.

evilharpy · 21/09/2021 09:09

I seem to have only one Body Shop bot left. She seems to only sell the products, I've never seen her try to recruit. There used to be loads of Body Shop in all the local groups. However I have seen multiple new Usborne people pop up.

Yarnandneedles · 21/09/2021 09:10

I use Tropic. Not planning to change.
The products sell themselves now I think as they are pretty tried and tested, and have won plenty of awards.
I just order online through the main website, rather than ordering through a sales person, though I give her name as a contact.
I keep an eye on offers through her Facebook page but I’m never hounded or pestered 🤷‍♀️

Shouldbedoing · 21/09/2021 09:16

I've got one that's a Business Entrepreneur/Marketing/positive thinking kind of guru but no way would I watch the webinar to find out more. I just hope it doesn't cost her too much money

Shouldbedoing · 21/09/2021 09:17

No tangible product

CoffeeWithMyOxygen · 21/09/2021 09:37

I have a lingering Scentsy one, but I ignored all invites to her special FB page for it so I don’t see too much. I used to work with her DH who would spend ages telling the whole (uninterested) office that it’s not a MLM scheme at all Hmm

CurzonDax · 21/09/2021 09:41

In my area, they all seem to gone over to FM World.

BoredZelda · 21/09/2021 10:24

A lot are moving into the tech type training programmes, we’ll teach you how to be the best direct marketing person etc, and you too can learn to teach people to be the best direct marketing person and sign them up to be the best trainer of best direct marketing people. Every other youtube advert I see is for them.

Plenty of huns on my FB too.
