To think there is little point complaining re music from Next door?

It's driving me slowly mad. Yesterday it was 4.30pm-10.30pm of such horrendously loud music my autistic 6 year old was sobbing with her hands over her ears when she needed to be sleeping. Tonight it started about 45 minutes ago and I'm praying the DC don't wake but it is loud.

It's 3 times a week on average. It does tend to stop my midnight but midnight is shit when you have two school age children being woken and/or kept up far too late on school nights.

If I contact the relevant professionals will it actually achieve anything other than aggravate them further to be even worse?

Knock their door and ask them to please turn the volume down.

If they don't, report them to the council.

You and your poor kids. Sad

Some people are such ignorant selfish cunts. They MUST know how fucking loud the music is FGS!

I'd speak to them first. Explain the problem.
I did raise a different issue of anti social behaviour with a neighbour and although they didn't react that well and were a bit defensive, they've never done it since. Wish we'd raised it earlier

TBF it's not like they are having their music on late at night. So not sure anything can be done.

I wouldn't make a big point of it but maybe when you see them outside mention how noise sensitive your child is and he reacts badly when he can hear the noise from neighbours.

Explain its your son's issue but you would really appreciate it if maybe they could turn it down a little so he's a bit calmer ?

Sorry but it will just make the situation worse.

If you put a reasonable complaint to reasonable people, they will usually take it on board and try to address the problem. The trouble is, people who blare their music out are not reasonable people. It's not like they don't know their music is affecting their neighbours, they know but they just don't care.

It's hit or miss in my experience.

One place we had a neighbour who would sit and get stoned every night and play Looney Toons cartoons at full volume on a loop in the room directly through the wall from our bedroom.

He wouldn't even answer the door so there was no point talking to him. Landlord wasn't interested. Council wasn't interested.

When ds1 was born he cried at night (obv). Said neighbour banged on the wall one night and I absolutely lost it. Didn't hear a peep from him after that. Dunno, probably cooincidence.

This place was great, really quiet until last year when someone moved in and started playing loud, live music. It's mostly not crazily late but the bass drives dh demented. Noone is interested. Hopefully they'll move out soon.

well I think loud music at 10:30 pm and 11:00 pm on a weekday is late.

Especially if you have kids living next door!

Midnight isn't late at night? It can't get any later, another minute and it will be tomorrow!

I sort of agree, but if nobody complains then they will claim that they didn't know. What to do?

Dishwashersaurous · 21/09/2021 10:04

Have you actually spoken to them about it?

ClaudiaWankleman · 21/09/2021 10:17

Can you swap bedrooms to avoid the worst of the noise?
