I fractured my back in two places earlier this year. Hair washing was a nightmare.

I started going to the hairdressers every week to get my hair washed and blow dried (only ever washed it once a week anyway). I could probably wash my own hair now but I really don't want to. I absolutely hate the thought - the last time I tried it I was in terrible pain and exhausted. AIBU to continue getting my hair done once a week? We can afford it but it does seem a bit of a luxury that could be spent elsewhere. DH hasn't said anything about it by the way.

You broke your back!!! Dear god keep going to the hairdressers!!

WayneBruce · 20/09/2021 22:42

Never stop! A weekly blow dry is my dream.

DoylyCarte · 20/09/2021 23:16

Just do it ♥️

suspiria777 · 20/09/2021 23:24

How much per week, in both time and money?

BlueMoons90 · 20/09/2021 23:27

Keep getting your hair done!!! If you can afford it and DH doesn't have an issue, who cares!

readingismycardio · 21/09/2021 05:58

Absolutely do it! YANBU! You broke your back! You deserve this, and you can afford it! Why not?

WoozySnoozy · 21/09/2021 06:01

If you can afford it go for it.

OMG it’s no brainer.

Going to the hair dressers is great therapy and good for your self esteem after such a horrid experience. I would be slightly concerned about your healing if the break has healed and you are still unable to do your hair due to.physical pain and exhaustion. You may need physio therapy or better targeted pain control.to improve your recovery.

I used to go to the local college for a hair wash and blow dry of my long dyed hair. . It was only £5.. I then broke 6 ribs and shattered my shoulder and had it all cut off for charity...

AngeloMysterioso · 21/09/2021 09:00

If you can afford it, why not? It saves you putting yourself through more pain and supports a local business. Win-win.

thereisonlyoneofme · 21/09/2021 10:02

DOesnt leaning backwards over the sink at the hairdressers hurt? I just wash mine in the shower before I go to the hairdressers to avoid this

perfectasalways · 21/09/2021 19:09

Leaning back doesn't hurt, costs about £15 without tip. I am sure I could wash my own hair now but after my previous experiences I have a bit of a fear of trying it again. It takes an hour every Saturday morning and sets me up for the day. Thinking of going back to the gym so might to there and then get my hair done - makes me feel better if I go out on a Saturday afternoon to the pub for a while. Thanks everyone for the vote of confidence. Think I am going to carry out. It's a whole social experience now because I know everyone. Getting my roots done this week which takes longer but I can sit with my kindle and a latte and my DH can do the housework Grin

Regardless of whether you have been injured, if you can afford it and you enjoy it, why wouldn’t you?

Bloodymess · 21/09/2021 19:15

Keep on going to the hairdresser. If you are with physio do they want you trying those movements to keep the muscles/ability? If so maybe do some exercises but check with them.
