Inspired by a conversation I had with a friend earlier.

Wondering whether I'd you're in a long term relationship (more than 5 years) do you still list after your partner?

YABU - Yes, of course!
YANBU - Nope.

13 years in. At the moment yes, but there have been times where it’s been more companionable (or we’ve felt like comrades battling through life’s nonsense and not had time/headspace). In my experience it ebbs and flows but have always known it was worth sticking around.

Would be interested to hear men's answers on same question.

I still fancy DH loads (heady fancying/lust/feeling of being totally in love). It's only been 5 years though, so I am prepared that that feeling might fade with time.
If it does then what I'll be left with is love. Love for the man I've chosen to love. Love as an action I choose to keep showing to him every day. Appreciation for his kindness, loyalty, dedication. Joy in his sense of humour, chat, and amazing craic.
So if the heady rush fades? The bedrock is still there. It won't matter to me.

Lusting after is a weird thought, I’m not sure I’ve ever really lusted after anyone. I’m still attracted to him and still enjoy being intimate with him but I don’t have some sort of cringey crush on him.
