Single parent doing a degree in social care.

I'm a single parent with a 3 year old, I work in the NHS and I'm really inspired to do a degree in social care. Aibu to think I'll be able to do it? I would do it part time and via the open university. The reason behind social care is DD and I had extensive involvement with children's services because of domestic abuse, the Local authority social workers were second to none, I couldn't fault them. Having lived through that experience, I really want to give back. I have the recipient knowledge of section 47 enquiry and child protection conferences etc, but I'd like to gain the academic knowledge and practical experience behind it. In my day to day job, I deal with all manner of upsetting and traumatic experiences and have learnt to have the right degree of empathy without getting too emotionally involved and attached.. I just worry about the practicalities of doing a degree, along side working and along side bring a mum first and foremost. Aibu to even consider it? Should I just not bother?

I just completed my OU degree. Took me 7yrs. Single parent. My children were 4&7 when I started. Totally doable. Yes it’s tough sometimes but so is being a single parent. Go for it!!

I'm not sure you can be a SW if your dc have been on CP plan, I think you can if they've been CIN but not if it's escalated so I'd advise checking that out first.
