All wrapping paper should be recyclable

Just started looking for wrap for Christmas and it’s shocking that there’s so much of that shiny crap paper that can’t be recycled still being sold.

All wrapping paper being produced today should be 100% recyclable.

On that note, which brands are selling nicely design recyclable wrapping paper? Need some tips. Thanks. (Or I guess I’ll be brown papering…)

I agree. Although I supect a lot of people just assume it's all recyclable as it's wrapping paper. So I suspect they put it in the recycling bin and think it's all fine. Sad

It’s called wishcycling. So much stuff gets thrown into the recycling only to contaminate the whole batch.

It is boggling it’s not all recyclable, surely it’s one of the easiest products to target?

I agree OP it would be an easy win.

Waitrose usually does a pretty good selection of brown kraft wrapping paper with Christmas designs.

YABU why use any wrapping paper, you can buy or make fabric bags that last for decades.

Even recyclable wrapping paper is a waste of resources.

You can also make fabrics crackers with Velcro so they can be pulled and reused.

I think the reusable fabric bags work really well for presents within your own close family, but they don’t really work if you will be sending the present, giving it to be opened later, or for someone you don’t know so well… in those scenarios it’s a bit awkward to ask for the wrapping back!!

Plus for the under 5s tearing through the paper is half the fun.

While I don’t disagree it’s sensible to get recyclable, I think making packaging magazines and marketing materials recyclable would be far more impactful. I’m sick of seeing stuff that women are traditionally more responsible for/impacted by targeted with these selective campaigns while the bigger culprits float on through unchallenged.
