Clarks Shoes

I am posting here for traffic.
I took DD to clarks to be measured for and buy new shoes. The shoes have been worn for school for 3 days and she keeps tripping up they are clearly too big. They also measured my little one but I then bought her shoes online, they've arrived and the shoes are too big, not worn so I am sending them back.
I am going to ring the store but really I want shoes that fit. Am I within my rights to insist on this and have others been successful in getting clarks to change shoes?
It was a difficult visit as she didn't want her feet measuring and needed a wee part way through but the shop was quiet (suspected SEN) but they should be able to deal with this.

I had to take back a pair this week. They measured my son and then gave him a pair that was at least a size too small. It makes actually going to the store pointless.

OnlyToWin · 19/09/2021 10:42

I have taken back worn shoes to Clarks due to them being measured incorrectly. I just used the “not fit for purpose” phrase and was given a new correctly fitted pair of shoes no problem.

whatsmyusername · 19/09/2021 10:47

Take them back if they measured/tried them on etc and they said they were fine, take them back. Thats what you pay for. I'm sure if you buy shoes from there without being measured they say they don't take responsibility if they don't fit.

SunbathingDragon · 19/09/2021 10:50

I bought some of the new year and DD came home with blisters on the first day. I really cannot be bothered with wasting another half day to travel back to the shop and have the discussion with them (they were useless online) but definitely won’t be buying from them again.

Whinge · 19/09/2021 10:51

Just to clarify. You went to get her feet measured in Clarks, but she didn't want them measured. Then you bought shoes online from Clarks after the visit?

Did you get a measurement from the shop assitant, or try on shoes in store?

Did you check the shoes on your daughters feet when they arrived?

doadeer · 19/09/2021 10:52

Can't you just buy one of the measurers off their website and do it yourself at home? My son is autistic and we do this. It's easier in a home setting then you can buy correct size online?

Babymamamama · 19/09/2021 10:52

I moved on from Clark’s with DD. They weren’t great quality. In primary she progressed to Kickers and now it’s DM soft school shoes all the way…

Whinge · 19/09/2021 10:53

Or am I getting confused and the shoes bought online aren't for the same daughter?

ThinWomansBrain · 19/09/2021 10:55

@whinge - I think the online shoes were for for a youngr child who was measured at the same time.

Daisypod · 19/09/2021 11:12

When I went to Clark's with my son in the summer to get shoes they measured then brought out shoes half a size bigger as she says they have to do that for growing room. They were massively too big but she refused to get me a smaller size to try as that's what the measuring gauge said 🙄
So we ended up not getting any for him. They also annoyed me as I got shoes for my older daughter too and when I went to pay they were £5 more than the price on the shoe, when I questioned this they said it was because she had a larger size and they weren't all the same price, something which they didn't advertise on the shelves at all.

The older child did eventually have their feet measured and shoes were purchased in store. These are the problem shoes

The younger child was measured but I ordered online
OnlyToWin thank you I will use that phrase

Ah right that's a lot clearer. In that case changing the shoes should be simple, as they've clearly not measured correctly.
MyCatHatesWhiskas · 19/09/2021 16:10

If the shoes were fitted in store then they will resolve that for you - they should be refitting with the correct size. Or offering a refund!

mayblossominapril · 19/09/2021 16:36

Thanks for all the advice. Took both children and the eldests shoes back. Both children were measured a different size to last week Hmm but one has shoes that fit now!
Any recommendations for places to buy toddler girls shoes?

I find local independents best, if you have any. They've always measured more accurately than Clarks, and one of our locals sells Clarks shoes if I want them anyway!
Ilovechocolatetoomuch · 19/09/2021 16:40

We found an independent shoe shop there are two different ones about 30 mins away but it's worth the drive.
I have only bought Clarks shoes once and they cut my son's feet to bits.
Also there is Charles Clinkard and Russell and Bromley who do startrite as well which imo are much better shoes.

mayblossominapril · 19/09/2021 18:40

I live in tourist towns area and you can get coffee and cake in every other shop. Last independent closed a few years back. There used to be a Charles clinkard about an hour away I hope it’s still open.
