Do you look forward to this one day or dread?? I have a full busy home atm with teens and young adults and love it, I love the times also its just me here the quiet and do what I want. I sort of fear an empty nest but maybe its ok, people change as they get older and work their way through life do you think?
I used to fear any hols without the kids , but dh had a few short breaks recently and I loved it................

I love my daughter hugely, but I have PLANS! I will be moving continent and building my dream house once my DD is a bit older and more independent. MY life starts again!!! GrinGrin

beware of the boomerang effect - when they come back after Uni and move back into their old rooms... 😏

They do tend to bounce back.
Some months this year there have been dh and I rattling around in our house alone, then other months there seems to have been 8 people here for some of the time (3 x adult dc plus partners).

I think it takes some adjustment when you are first just the two of you again, but that doesn't mean it is a bad thing or a time to be constantly weeping as so many poster on WIWIKAU seem to do Hmm . It is like any big change, you need to get used to it, and then that becomes the norm.

I felt as you did. I could never understand those parents who were glad the school holidays were over. My boys were my best achievement and my greatest joy.
They are 31 and 27 now. My elder son is married with a son of his own the younger one marries next year and hopes to adopt his fiancées daughter.
Life changes, when both my boys went off to university I did really struggle but they were back for holidays.
They have both now left home and I do miss them but I’m incredibly lucky to see them and their families a lot. You adjust.
Enjoy every moment along the way, don’t fail to appreciate today because you are worrying about tomorrow.
It will be ok. ☺️
