DD finally got star of the week!

DDs 7, in year 3.

She’s never had star of the week, ever! Apparently that’s impossible as everyone gets it once per year but she’s honestly never had it. She’d given up ever getting it. Stars of the week get to sit on the bench for the assembly but due to a medical issue she sits on the bench anyway so had given up predicting she’d get it sat on the bench. She apparently didn’t realise no-one else in her class was sat on the bench!

But she finally got it. I didn’t even know until I got the assembly link sent to my emails earlier today and logged on to watch her get it. I didn’t really clock what is was until I head the headteacher on the assembly say “Now for the parents watching at home we’re going to announce the star of the week for each class”. I admit I cried!

I know they’re hated on here but I’m so proud. She got it for maths as well. She waved at the camera (they get all the kids to do it) and her name and picture is on the board in the school office for the first time in 3 and a bit years!

I know VUR for announcing it here. 3 years I've waited for it. Her friends parents have watched their child get it at least 3 times already.

That's lovely for her but the fact she's never had it before has really annoyed me. This stuff may seem trivial but it matters to children.

Brilliant. She deserves it.

Jangle33 · 17/09/2021 18:22

Isn’t the whole point every child gets once per year? A pointless award let’s be honest! I’d have made more of a fuss if you really are correct she hadn’t had in previous years.

Well done to the Star of the Week. 🤩

And congratulations to you., SOTW senior. You have a lovely, modest daughter, not tooting her horn. Glad you've come on here and tooted it for her. 🥳

Well done to your dd!

Brilliant 🤩

My DD never got anything in her three years in mainstream school - she moved to a Special School and has received quite a few Star of the Week and at the end of the school year she was presented with Star of the Year which is only presented to one pupil in the whole school.

I cry when she gets star of the week - I was a blubbering wreck with Star of the Year !

I thought she'd get it when I mentioned it to the teachers, but obviously not. It didn't seem like a thing to make a fuss over especially over the last two years.
