House photos

So we used an interior designer to help with pain colours and with curtains. They did an ok job. They now what to come back for 3 days and want to ‘stage’ our house for photos for their portfolio.

I am not too keen on this as I think it’s quite intrusive and feel that my house is private. My husband is always chilled and happy

Just say no.

Josette77 · 17/09/2021 00:28

I don't think it's a weird request.

IsDaveThere · 17/09/2021 01:47

I don't think its such a strange request tbh, they probably just want to showcase their previous work to prospective clients.

Saying that, I have never met anyone who has used an interior designer to choose their curtains and paint colours for them, so I am probably not the best person to be answering this Grin

They want to want to stage your house and take 3 days doing it?

Aquamarine1029 · 17/09/2021 02:14

Say no but offer to prove a reference, if you want to.

backtolifebacktoreality · 17/09/2021 02:17

Was their work discounted so that they could do this? If not, and you don't want them doing it, then say no.

Kanaloa · 17/09/2021 02:18

I don’t think it’s a weird thing to ask but I also don’t think it’s wrong to say no. The hairdresser has asked to photograph my hair after a dye and cut before, I was fine with it but it would have been fine to say no!

Catflapkitkat · 17/09/2021 02:39

Why didn't they take photographs at the handover time? Sorry - that ship has sailed.

And 3 days? Where d'you live, Windsor Castle?

NewPapaGuinea · 17/09/2021 07:45

Depends if you received a discount or are being paid for it. If not, what are you gaining from it other than 3 days of intrusion?

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 17/09/2021 07:48

You can say no-it’s a request not a demand!

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 17/09/2021 07:51

It's a reasonable request, to which you are entitled to say no.

Personally, I would let them (if you think they did a decent job) - they must rely on this kind of thing to keep their business going, and it must have been difficult for them during the lockdowns, so I'd want to do what I could to support a small business.

MaryHadALittleDramHicHic · 17/09/2021 08:27

hmm if they want to stage it its not a true reflection of what they've done
I think they should have asked and taken them when they were working there
