Pregnancy and Gas Meter Change ..

Hi all, sure I am probably being paranoid but I just wanted to reach out and get others views / some reassurance.

I am currently 11 weeks + 4 days pregnant, all going well so far ❤️🤞🏻
We are having our gas and electric meters swapped over today to smart meters, which the engineer has mentioned involves swapping pipes etc.
I have been sat in the vicinity making small talk and generally keeping him company in the house as I am the only one in and feel nervous having a stranger left unsupervised in the home. (He is a lovely man so I'm not making any assumptions about him, it's more a general reservation I have).

Anyway, I began to smell gas and tried to ignore it as I was a little unsure if I was imagining it as I was already worried.. give it 10 mins and I can DEFINITELY smell gas and it is making me very worried.
I don't want to question the gentleman's work as I am sure this is a normal 'side effect' of the process but because I am pregnant I am really worried that I have now been exposed to harmful toxins!! 😩
The front door is open and the meter is in the hall cupboard and I have retreated to my bedroom with my head stuck out of the window for fresh air.. but I just wanted to know if I should be as worried as I am right now that I have potentially been exposed to the gas for around 10 mins??

Side note: we have a carbon monoxide detector in the hall that hasn't beeped ..

Thanks for reading and sorry it's a touch long x

Open all the doors and windows but try not to worry. I'm sure the meter installer is following safety procedures to keep you both safe . If you're really concerned, go outside and ring the company to ask for their emergency gas leak advice. They can talk you through things to keep you safe

It wouldn't even in a severe gas leak. As the name implies they detect carbon monoxide, not gas.
