To ask what colour your kitchen floor is?

.....especially if you have oak worktops and light coloured cabinets.

We need to look at flirting for our kitchen, DH thinks the beige tiles I’d picked out will make it all too light and wash it out. We don’t want wood as we have wood throughout other parts of the house and wihh the the oak worktops, it would all be too ‘woody’

Really need to find something fast but despite looking on Pinterest and Instagram, I’m all out of inspiration.

We have just off white cabinets, oak work tops and slate effect laminate. I love the colour combination!

OwlBasket · 15/09/2021 18:21

@ShoppingBasket we’ve dark grey grout with our slate. TBH it has to be filthy to look dirty. I can imagine the contrast white would be a totally different kettle of fish.

The white is bound to really highlight the lime scale spots too. If you don’t fancy swapping to darker grout maybe you could try a final rinse with boiled water?

Dark grey ceramic floor tiles with paler grey blotchy bits. Pale quartz worktops, pale oak cabinets.

Three white walls, one turquoise wall

ShoppingBasket · 15/09/2021 18:29

@OwlBasket thanks I'll try that. Do you use any particular product on yours?

CrazySpanielLady88 · 16/09/2021 11:11

Thanks for all the responses. Is anyone with a darker floor with light cabinets and worktops willing to share a picture? Blush

I do think light coloured flooring probably looks better with oak worktops and light cabinets but I’m just worried about it all looking a bit too light and beige. You just don’t see many darker coloured floors with the light cabinets and worktops

Cream and I regret it every day. Every single speck shows up.

QueefofSheena · 16/09/2021 13:36

Black Karndean, which I love. Previously had large square limestone tiles, which I hated as they showed every speck and the grout always looked dirty no matter how often I cleaned it.

Feeling with you, In a rental here with pale lemon industrial weight lino, slightly flecked with very pale grey. I live deep rural and with seven cats and my own feet... Depresses me as I am disabled and cleaning floors... ..

Black and white tiles arranged in chequered pattern with border round edge of room. Big victorian house with panelled fireplace with cooker built into it, oak cupboards, cream worktop. Love it. But would be too fussy in small kitchen

Angrymum22 · 16/09/2021 15:03

Almost white stone coloured porcelain tiles. Looks lovely when clean but we have a black Labrador so rarely stays clean for long. Being porcelain it doesn’t stain.

SirChenjins · 16/09/2021 15:06

Light cream cabinets, oak worktops, large light cream floor tiles. It’s quite a shady room so I wanted as much light as possible.

HasaDigaEebowai · 16/09/2021 15:12

chestnut stained bamboo.

I had walnut in my last kitchen with walnut worktops and white cupboards. It isn't too much darkness.

BiBabbles · 16/09/2021 15:22

Stoneish greige tiles with dark grout (though we've the reversed - oak cabinets, light coloured counters and lighter walls).
