that it really...big delivery xmas pressies ....about 10 books, a digital camera and a memory card...
ALL left outside in plain view in the pouring rain!!!!
The box dissolved on picking it up the books are damp and the camera box looks ok but feels like it has frozen!!
Over £200 worth of stuff!!! Could have been knicked

Complain.

mumblechum · 04/12/2007 18:18

It is annoying for you, but I heart Amazon today as I phoned them to ask where a dvd was which was dispatched on 24 Nov & they instantly said they'll send me a new one! Was only a fiver, but still.

glaskham · 04/12/2007 18:19

yep- defo complain- they should have taken it back to the depo, or sorting office depending on how it was delivered!! especially if its been raining!!

mellymooks · 04/12/2007 18:24

Same happened to my friend the other day, they didn't even knock to see if she was home just left it on doorstep totally ruined by rain. She phoned Amazon and they sent replacement straight away.

DingdongmerrRADLEYonhigh · 04/12/2007 18:30

This happened to me, luckily, the item in question was doubled and triple wrapped in bubble wrap, but it was a pita unwrapping and me and the kitchen floor ended up soaked

Bouncingturtle · 04/12/2007 18:41

Yep, similar thing but with Boots online - 2 huge boxes left on my doorstep in plain view of the street (only got a very tiny front garden!)
It is likely the delivery company who is at fault but I would still complain to Amazon.

RudolphtherEDDASnosedreindeer · 04/12/2007 18:45

You could do what someone I know did and report the items as not having turned up. Thn when they say they've been delivered just say they weren't there when you got home. It wasn't me BTW and I know it's not strictly allowed but they shouldn't leave things lying around for anyone to pick up. They must have things go missing all the time.

Angry on your behalf I would at least complain and say the items have been damaged

ScruffyTeddy · 04/12/2007 18:54

Complain. I used to do a Christmas catalogue and they (literally, because it was locked) threw my delivery over the back gate into a huge puddle!

brandnewhelsy · 04/12/2007 18:57

Complain.
We had a message from one delivery company shoved through the letterbox saying "parcel left in bin" - on bin day.

pukkapatch · 04/12/2007 18:58

amazon is crap.
never buy from them.

brandnewhelsy · 04/12/2007 19:05

Actually, I think Amazon are fine.

SquonkaClaus · 04/12/2007 19:06

they go round to the back of my house and "post" my parcels through the cat flap

SquonkaClaus · 04/12/2007 19:07

(tis a big cat flap - perhaps a dog flap if there is such a thing?)

Peachy · 04/12/2007 19:07

Brandnew the same happened to my sister with a Vertbaudet aprcel- WHY would anyone be so stupid?

Its not strictly Amazn at fault ehre its their couriers but yes complain

yogimum · 04/12/2007 19:10

I had a boden parcel left on my doorstep this morning I don't have a front garden so it was basically left on the street.

pukkapatch · 04/12/2007 19:11

i think amazon are crap.
they are overpriced
you can never buy what you want from them in the first place. it is always being sold by someone in the market place
their deliveries come wrapped in to much packaging.
always delivered at half six in themorning
and they are soooo overpriced it is unbelievable
oh, adn they dont do quidco.

so i think amazon are crap!

Peachy · 04/12/2007 19:14

Ah but they are good for obscure studenty books that nowhere local would even consider stocking (and the woman on ordering in Smiths always hits the off button on the PC and says 'will you look at that, PC's gone down so can't take any orders for the next few days' )

So i arther rely on Amazon LOL, though certainly have had bad experiences in the apst (DH's DS 2 years ago turned up for Christmas in March!!!)

pukkapatch · 04/12/2007 19:16

lol peachy!

bumpybecky · 04/12/2007 21:15

they do give nectar points though just need to access the amazon site via the nectar website

OP - I'd complain and ask for repalcements for the damanged things.

ABudafulSightWereHappyTonight · 05/12/2007 08:42

TBH I have usually found Amazon ok. We had a few parcels go missing en route to Budapest and just e-mailed them and they offer to resend or give us money back. They once sent the same package twice for DH before suggesting that he might be better off with a refund. And I know full well that the stuff has been nicked here in Hungary.

I ordered some stuff yesterday morning and it was despatched last night.

pukkapatch · 05/12/2007 12:40

i still think they are crap.
