Really boring one I’m afraid but I just can’t make my mind up.

Since having my second DC in November, I’m struggling a bit with losing the weight. I’m not trying too hard as I don’t want to fall into disordered eating habits I’ve had in the past. I’m at the top end of healthy BMI/possibly just ‘overweight’ so I’m not too concerned from that perspective. I’m still breastfeeding, DD doesn’t sleep all that well, I work pretty much full time, and I have a 3 year old to run around after… sugar and caffeine are basically my life right now and I’m not doing my usual 6 or 7 training sessions per week. I’m working on it though.

I ordered two pairs of jeans from Monki. One in a size 12, the other in a W29, thinking they’d be the same size. Bizarrely the 12 is quite big but comfy and I could put a belt on them but the 29 are just slightly too small - I can do the button up but the zip is a bit tricky due to my squishy mum tum and enormous arse.

Fo I keep both, neither (as neither is perfect), or one pair - and in which case, which one?! They weren’t expensive but my wardrobe is pretty full as it is.

I WANT to lose some weight. But do I really want to be looking at sad ‘don’t fit me’ jeans for months? But equally do I want to keep jeans that are slightly too big and could be massive in a few months? Or am I just kidding myself about ever shifting this extra ‘happy weight’ anyway?

Buy the ones that fit now for sure. Don't keep the others. When you lose weight there'll be plenty of other jeans out there.

Anordinarymum · 14/09/2021 18:21

Buy and wear the ones that fit

fluffiphlox · 14/09/2021 18:37

Never buy clothes thinking you will slim into them. I speak of what I know.

Smallfry79 · 14/09/2021 18:45

Dont buy either. none of them fit. Order a different style or from somewhere else. Too small clothes just never get put on as uncomfortable and too big look sloppy and frumpy.

Kanaloa · 14/09/2021 18:47

I’d send both back. There’s no use having those ‘when I lose weight’ clothes that sit frowning in your wardrobe. If/when you lose the weight then treat yourself to the new jeans.

Siameasy · 14/09/2021 18:48

I would return both and order some that fit now

If the 12 fits keep it and send the others back.

If the 12 doesn’t fit send it back and try a different brand. The fact you need a belt makes me think they don’t fit.

If I’m honest I wouldn’t spend much on clothes if planning to diet. George at Asda jeans are fine. If you don’t like them then it’s an incentive to lose weight every time you wear them, and promise yourself something in a naice brand as soon as you drop a few pounds then!

Keep what fits and if you lose weight, give them to the charity shop. From experience, keeping uncomfortable clothes that don't fit has never made anyone any thinner. And if you're zipping up a 12 then I'm sure you're absolutely fine!

ViciousJackdaw · 14/09/2021 20:34

Well a size 12 will be bigger than a W29. Size 12 clothes generally have a 32 inch waist or thereabouts. A size 8 would be around 28 inches.

Keep the 12s (and if you are in a 12, there is no way you are as 'squishy' and 'enormous' as you think!) and save the rest of the money for a pair that will fit you properly in a 2-3 months time.
