To think a teacher calling a parent beautiful is odd

Dropping off my son at school this morning, female teacher said "bye beautiful" to myself which caught me off guard. Spoken to her on a few occasions before.
AIBU to think this is odd? I don't particularly enjoy darling or sweet either though

@PumpkinKlNG I am properly laughing out loud at that.

I’ve had this, the teacher said “dc your beautiful mummy is here” and I didn’t know what to do so went all flustered and quickly said “oh you look nice too” (and she did!) Afterwards, I realised it was probably one of those “compliment a stranger today” things to make people smile and it worked because we were both smiling Grin

She was my daughter old teacher and I just couldn’t stand her, I was leaving the school after dropping off my children and I wasn’t expecting her to say anything so when she said hi it caught me off guard and I ended up blurting it out and quickly scurrying off 😳 I was hoping to avoid her forever after that but guess what teacher my daughter for again this year 🤦‍♀️

hilarious, it's exactly the sort of thing preschool teachers say as they farewell children only they say it so often they end up saying it to everyone without thinking. HAHAHA

I think it probably slipped out. She's probably feeling embarrassed Blush

I once called my daughters headteacher sweetheart 🤣slip of the tongue and quick as a flash she said your welcome cutie pie just to make me blush 🤣.
That's how we rolled x

CloudPop · 14/09/2021 10:49

It's why I dropped the habit of an "x" at the end of a text. After I added one to a text to my boss.

Slip of tongue,so you really think they were hitting in you in the middle of the school run?
