To leave an Airbnb because of spiders

The host thinks I'm sound asleep in the room next to her but I actually left in the night and have booked into a hotel across town.

I have a strong and irrational fear of harvestmen spiders. I arrived late at night, brushed my teeth, said goodnight, then just as I was preparing for bed I realised that there were harvestmen all over the ceilings, walls and next to the nightstands. Maybe about 9-10 of them at a glance in a very small room with a narrow bed, but probably a lot more hiding. I have a very strong reaction to them; they make my skin crawl and give me extreme anxiety. There's no way I could sleep in the same room as them. Not a chance. I know they're harmless but it's not about that.

Was I being unreasonable to leave in the middle of the night without saying anything? I don't think I had a choice...
I also have to explain myself in the morning as she'll wake up and realise I'm not there.

I once stayed somewhere that the owners didn't believe in killing anything living so refused to get rid of cobwebs as they are the spiders homes Confused

There was also a hot tub in the garden but it couldn't be used as it was right next to a bush that housed a wasps nest!! I'm wondering whether the owners of where the OP is staying are a similar type!

Thanks all. I spoke to the host this morning and she was very apologetic on the phone. She said she didn't notice them and they didn't bother her but understands that some people don't like them and it was good reminder for her to check the ceilings. Just trying to find out if I have a case for a refund or partial refund. I realised now that I should have taken photos or a video of them as evidence.
I slept well in my nice hotel room, although spiders definitely made it into my dreams and I woke up a few times thinking they were on me!

@BunnytheFriendlyDragon

YANBU

It sounds like the windows were left open but it's likely they were there a while and then owner would know unless it's a while since anyone's been in

Had to reluctantly Google what's a harvestman is

They won't be harvestmen (not spiders at all actually, but another type of vegetarian arachnid); they will be cellar spiders (Pholcidae).

YANBU OP. That's a housekeeping issue. 10 or 11 in one room means that many will have been there for ages. I like them, but I wouldn't want that many in a room. I think you should request a refund.

Definitely try to get a refund. You have a receipt for the hotel room you ended up paying for as evidence.

Are these what we also call daddy long legs? If so we have a massive invasion this time every year. They are all over the ceiling in the kitchen as I've had the door wide open and we live near a field. Nothing I can do about them and they don't bother me. If they weren't the flying kind then I would seriously consider burning down my house 🤣
