Lodger hasn’t moved his bike

The neighbours are painting the side of their fence and my lodger knew on Saturday they were coming. Came back Sunday with his motorway and left it down the side of the house where the painters want to put up scaffolding.

He said he will move his bike in the morning. He usually has a shower around 7:50.

Am I being unreasonable for thinking he should have moved his bike before tomorrow morning?

Fair enough we didn’t specify a time with the neighbour but I can see them turning up when he’s still in bed.

He’s a little protective of his bike….

He'll just have to inconvenience himself and move it when they knock in the morning.

Hopefully if he’s up.

I would assume he thinks his bike is safer or more secure where it is. He'll just have to move it if they knock early.

I don’t know why it would be any safer where it is now. It has padlock on it and it is outside his window (he’s on the first floor).

Surely he would hear people more?

My issue is that he won’t wake up early and I have no idea where then they will come. I should have specified he move it by tonight…. My fault.

Presumably its locked to something? DHs is looked to a metal post and has a motion alarm. Insurance company expects the lock as minimum. His insurance wouldn't be valid if left parked on the road outside our house.

merrymelody · 13/09/2021 23:23

Presumably you will be awake when the painters arrive so if he hasn't moved his bike by then, wake him up!

I won’t be awake… I don’t wake up until late. I don’t know what time they will arrive…. Which i should have clarified.

Nope and has a motion alarm which is piss poor. Not my issue where he parks his bike. Not sure why he would park it outside his bedroom…. Would be much secure imo

Apparently it’s a lot of drama taking it in the back way…

Stop worrying about it, not your bike, not your problem. It's his responsibility.

Disintegration1985 · 14/09/2021 13:31

Surely that's your lodger's problem? If it's a massive hassle to move it when they knock, he might learn a lesson.

Nopetryagain · 14/09/2021 13:36

I think you are worrying about nothing

growinggreyer · 14/09/2021 13:57

If you - either of you - are in bed when a gang of scaffolders want you to move a motorbike, you better believe that they will let you know!

TimeForTeaAndG · 14/09/2021 13:59

How is it your problem, presumably he is an adult and can deal with it himself. You are not his mother.

Shirleyphallus · 14/09/2021 14:02

I mean this kindly but it’s really a non issue, he can just move it when they arrive if he hasn’t already

NashvilleQueen · 14/09/2021 14:04

I'm not getting the impression you and the lodger get on.

Wingedharpy · 14/09/2021 14:10

A gang of rampant scaffolders will not let such a trivial thing as a motorbike get in their way.
Enjoy your lie in OP.

My house. My neighbour.
