DD is 3.. Had to pick her up early on Fri from preschool as she wasn't well and vomited there, vomited again at home. Completely fine yesterday. Appetite normal. Noticed two tiny spots on her face.. This morning it's developed onto her knees and her hands. Called 111, waiting for advice currently. Worried its chicken pox. I had her have the chicken pox vaccine earlier this year as well :(

It's only called hand foot and mouth because that's where you're most likely to see a rash. It can actually appear anywhere on the body. My DS had the worst of it in his nappy area and on his knees.

Just need to be clear on the policy at her pre school. The guidance online says to keep them off till they feel better, she is fine.. The worst of it was on Friday.. She's completely normal self today and yesterday.

Shes fine to attend if well in herself. Theres an NHS health guidance thing on it somewhere. For most children HFM is very mild, it's not one where you keep them home unless poorly. Also they are contagious before symptoms show so it's too late to stop the spread.

I'm sure in our setting we can't exclude them for hand foot and mouth. Some children are fine with it while others are miserable.

When I had it, my mouth and throat were agony and I was off a week.

I'll get ready as normal in the morning and have emailed her pre school.. If they advise otherwise then I'll be staying off with her.

Sorry to resurrect but my son is getting over HFM now. It’s awful. Followed all of the classic symptoms like your DS. He’s also got a nasty cough now which I’m worried about. Hope it goes when he gets better!
