Why do people put graphic photos of their injuries on Facebook?

It's gross! A friend has put two or three photos of her injuries after a small accident and one in particular of her food and it's gash is bloody AWFUL!

I don't want to see your foot close up, nor do I want to see the injury!

How can people not know this isn't ok? Or is it? Am I the weirdo?

Mute, unfollow or unfriend if you don't want to see it.

Tlollj · 11/09/2021 22:06

Attention seeking like all of Facebook.

0palescent · 11/09/2021 22:06

Attention seeking, usually.

Toottooot · 11/09/2021 22:08

For attention obvs. OMG u ok hun?

FortunesFave · 11/09/2021 22:10

Don't they realise people will be disgusted though?

OP posts:
Biancadelrioisback · 11/09/2021 22:11

Unfollow

BoPeepCantFindHerFucks · 11/09/2021 22:13

@Toottooot "not really but I can't put it on ere, I'll dm you ❤️"

FortunesFave · 11/09/2021 22:30

I can't unfollow the person. They've never done this before and I genuinely like them! I wanted to put something like "Nobody wants to see this!" but they'd get hurt I think. It's just a bit weird! Unlike them really.

Just scroll past all the posts you don't want to see.
people use social media differently.

Somuddled · 11/09/2021 22:46

Your missing the point. They don't care if some people find it disgusting. They have some news they want to share. They are just using social media exactly for what it is for.

Cherrysoup · 11/09/2021 22:51

Fb usually cover graphic photos, even minor ones. I put up a picture of an injury I had, really severe, because people wanted to see and I couldn’t be doing with 100 private messages. Fb covered it so people could choose to see it or not. 🤷‍♀️

ParkheadParadise · 11/09/2021 22:54

At least she's told you what the injury is.
Most people check-in to A&E then pm u hun xx 😜😜😜

Planty13 · 11/09/2021 22:56

I find scrolling by quite easy

TicTacHoh · 12/09/2021 07:08

@Tlollj

Attention seeking like all of Facebook.
This, with bells on.
peoniesandpastels · 12/09/2021 07:38

Definitely an attention seeking component.

A few years ago I had a pretty significant head injury - left me with a 10 inch gash, right down to the skull. Loads of hair cut off, really gruesome stuff. I was surprised by the number of people who would ask if I had any pictures when they saw me afterwards. (I did, but I did NOT post them on Facebook, or show them to anyone who didn't explicitly ask to see). So if I'm being very charitable, perhaps they think they have friends or family who are likely to be interested?

BlackberrySky · 12/09/2021 07:47

Massive attention seeking. Unfollow and move on is all you can do really, better than fuelling it by any kind of response.

Brefugee · 12/09/2021 09:22

of course social media is about attention seeking - that is precisely what it's for.

Just scroll past. And if you're disgusted by something you can say it to the person privately? There is no such thing as "can't unfriend"

Mumdiva99 · 12/09/2021 09:24

Have you been to Sporner Corner? Plenty of people enjoy gross....
