Doctor leaving me in pain

My Doctors surgery infuriate me lately, shit doctor and rude staff. There are two doctors, one is worth there weight in gold. The other is beyond terrible. I have been suffered multiple bouts of very severe pain. The last episode lasted 5 hours, I was very close to taking myself to A&E, it then eased off. I went to the doctors (my luck I get the shit one) and really had to insist on a scan. I'm fortunate to have private healthcare so got the scan quickly. At the scan gallstones were confirmed. 2 weeks later not a word from my doctors, I call twice apparently they dont have the results.I get these RE sent by the hospital. Recive a call today and am told the doctor wants to schedule a routine appointment in two weeks to discuss results. I point out to rude receptionist that I am in pain, already been delayed due to them missing my results and a further two weeks is not reasonable. Long story short it seems impossible for them to relaynyhis message back and my only option is to call for an emergency appointment on Monday. Bonkers!! Each interaction with the receptionists does not go well they are so rude which may skew my view. Is it reasonable for me to wait two weeks?
I think just give me the referral asap and let me sort out getting my pain resolved!

If you are going to use the private healthcare going forward, they should just write the referral the same day and let you arrange the next step. They are being ridiculous.

Can you see a consultant via private healthcare? Sadly the wait for gallbladder surgery is long on the NHS. I had mine oit last year after a year on the waiting list. Do you follow a diet that helps you manage the pain? Not wanting to teach you how to suck eggs but you can manage the pain with a low fat, low dairy and mainly meat free diet until you can get seen. Hope you get sorted soon. If the pain doesn't go away and is sharp, you can't stop vomiting and you have a fever, you need to go to A&E. Good luck!

Demand a referral if you are going private & otherwise an NHS choose & book appointment to the private hospital which is where you are treated exactly the same as a private patient but the NHS pays to keep waiting lists down. They should as a minimum be giving you good pain relief & antisickness medication in the meantime, if they aren't then make a complaint.

If you want to be referred privately then ask to speak to the practice secretary - the receptionists don't deal with referrals, but the secretaries do. When I want a referral, I try to work out which consultant I would like to see and ask for a specific referral to them. It is best not to let your private healthcare provider pick the consultant as they will just pick the cheapest one.

It took 6months from diagnosis of gallstones to removal for me…. Good luck!

Yes once I have a refferral I can pick it back up with my private healthcare and get it sorted (very lucky, extremely grateful) Which I guess just adds to my frustration. Just give me a referral and I will be on my merry way. Doctor not prescribed anything for pain (proper shit). I have tramadol given by a freind (makes me sick following day doesnt agree with me). When I get an attack also throwing up the whole time not pleasant. Will do the emergency appointment on Monday and ask they get on with it or give me pain relief. To be fair I have controlled it well with diet. Anyone who knows the pain it's an constant impending doom every time you eat a meal!

OP try buscopan for the pain - prescribed to me by 111 doc it makes attacks manageable. Sadly there’s not much they can do for gallstones apart from remove your gallbladder, which takes months on the NHS. Eat a very low fat diet with plenty of fibreous carbs to slow any weight loss. I hope you get your referral soon 🤞

I have just booked a private appointment with a consultant without a GP referral. I did it online. I selected a date 4 weeks from now but earlier ones were available. Good luck OP.

SamanthaJayne4 · 10/09/2021 22:54

Should add it wasn't gall bladder.

You can buy buscopan from Amazon or most supermarkets sell them.
