It looks like sugar to me

Ivy48 · 10/09/2021 15:05

They look like mould mites. Is there any damp or things that could attract them like open flour etc?

Notapheasantplucker · 10/09/2021 15:05

Bugs?? Are they moving?

Lucked · 10/09/2021 15:09

They look like mites check any grain or open dry food including pet foods

AntiSocialDistancer · 10/09/2021 15:10

I had aphids on a basil on my kitchen window sill that looked like that. Have you any potted herbs nearby?

ForeverQuery · 10/09/2021 15:13

No plants or anything nearby, they're mostly on the cupboard we keep our dry foods and spices in

Spider babies

gamerchick · 10/09/2021 15:16

Flour mites or weavils. They live in the dry food cupboards.

I personally would throw away any open packets, empty the cupboards and give a good clean with the good stuff.

Tereseta · 10/09/2021 15:17

Spider babies
Burn the house down and don't look back 😱
VestaTilley · 10/09/2021 15:18

Check any open bags of flour/dried fruit/rice etc and throw away if you see any insects.

Empty all kitchen cupboards and wash down thoroughly with a Flash solution in hot water and mould remover on any tiles.

CaptainMarvelous · 10/09/2021 15:20

I agree, weavils. You will need to chuck any open packets etc and have a really good clean of the cupboards.

Queenoftheashes · 10/09/2021 15:24

I have no idea but 😱😱😱

daisylashes · 10/09/2021 15:26

We just had these on the edge of our fish tank I just wiped them up with dettol wipes and put the bin bag straight outside. Weird coincidence maybe it's the time of year??

SusannahSophia · 10/09/2021 15:30

Chuck all flour packs in paper bags. Clean cupboards as suggested. with new flour, keep it in sealed tupperware type boxes. Flour mites are really common, don't worry.

ForeverQuery · 10/09/2021 15:33

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll clean and empty the inside of the cupboards today. I did the outside yesterday and they've come back today.

Had a google of some of the things people have suggested it could be, google suggests vinegar too which I'll try.

Just going into the kitchen and seeing them is making my feel very itchy!

We had an infestation of these in our ensuite in our old house. Freaked me out given they had managed to travel the distance to my bedside table. I believe ours originated from the litter tray in the bathroom (not my cats) so once the bathroom and bedroom areas affected were thoroughly cleaned and the cat litter tray sanitised we didn't have any more outbreaks. Basically take heart that getting rid of them isn't an endless battle.

notasillysausage · 10/09/2021 15:45

Flour mites. We had these (they are all over your cupboard too if you look closely 😱) you have to clean out all cupboards, throw open food packets, clean any closed packets and bleach everything you can in your kitchen. We had cupboards all empty for at least a week and bleached every day to get rid of them.

BlankTimes · 10/09/2021 15:53

Definitely flour mites, if you look on the photo, they are all over the cupboard door as well.

I second the advice SusannahSophia gave. Smile

ForeverQuery · 11/09/2021 07:44

Right, we spent 2 hours cleaning the whole cupboard yesterday, we binned most thing because they were covered. Left the cupboard open to air out.

IVE WOKEN UP WITH MORNING AND THEY ARE BACK AGAIN 😳🥺🥺😭

We had these and as well as lots of cleaning, one of the things that worked well for us was using a dehumidifier.

CallMeNutribullet · 11/09/2021 07:49

I'm afraid you need to rip out your kitchen and start again

adagio · 11/09/2021 07:50

Call the estate agent, or burn the house down and claim in the insurance?

I’m all seriousness they were presumably in the cracks somewhere so just keep cleaning again (and again) and don’t replace food until you are sure they have buggered off. (Eat out?!)
Any food you do need seal in tupperwares as mentioned above - but keep stock as low as poss so less stuff to clean.
