To Think It’s Sad for Someone to Show Off on FB

I have enjoyed seeing the Back to School photos but why should someone need to position their children to the left side of the photo so that the right side can display, what looks like, a gleaming, shiny Mercedes with a personalised numberplate ? If you’ve got it, flaunt it, some say but it just feels sad that they have to do this..what do others think? I suppose it’s sad for me to be thinking about it, too 😄😄

I also never sense that anyone on my FBk is "showing off"

If they are... then it doesn't bother me. I'm glad they are happy about something.

That would amuse me. I like seeing the kids in their oversize uniforms though.

I love the back to school pictures, ours is just usually at the front door, me bribing the kids to smile and look at the same time, an extra tictac if an arm goes around the others shoulder Grin

Agree the Christmas present piles are distasteful, but I guess it's be boring if we were all the same.

Yes, particularly when the kids are starting secondary school.

It's a way to signal "look at how wealthy we are and all the nice things we have" to the other parents. Helps them to stop the poorer kids from hanging out with their precious darlings.

It's the SAHM who are worst for it - the ones who didn't earn any of the money in the first place.

It's awful reading this. I live in a large house with a big garden. We have nice cars. If I take a picture of my kids in the garden like anyone else would I am always concerned people think we are showing off - but I'm not - it's just my garden! It sounds like people will though. What should I do ? Just not post? It's ok to post on social if you have a small house and garden but not if you have a large one? What are the rules here?

londonrach · 10/09/2021 07:18

Don't know anyone who does that. Strange..it's a rubbish car too. Wouldn't want one ever. What's wrong with a photo of child by door so focus on child

** Sneering at other people’s FB is the new acceptable forum for snobbery and bitching.

So tedious.**

^I agree with this.
