To buy my dog a pram?

She's perfectly healthy but a small mixed rescue who gets tired easily, one of her parents is a brachycephalic breed.

We go for walks but most she can do is 30/45 mins then she's done.
So we just go round the block or to the same Park 10 mins away. 10 there, 10 back and 20 in park absolutely floors her!

I would love to walk to parks further away, I'm so bored of the same small park. I don't drive and want to start walking for my health. There are lovely water parks about 40 min walk either side of my home but I know she would never be able to do 40 mins there, 40 mins back and a nice walk around the park.

WIBU to get some sort of dog pram to walk her there and back and let her enjoy the park as her walk?

Don't know if this is any use to you OP but we had this one for my first pug and we've just purchased another for rescue pug number 2 as her poor hips are not good. She'll be able to come with us on so many more days out now without worry or someone having to carry her when she gets tired.

I see special dog peaks around here. There’s even a couple near us who push two (really angry looking) cats in a pram.

I’m really tempted to get one for ddog as he’s very elderly and arthritic and my other dog needs a longer walk. I leave him behind with treats and puzzles but I feel like I’m being unfair.

There was a lovely story over the summer of a man whose poor old dog was in its last legs so he took it on a hike over the hills in a wheelbarrow. Other hikers would help out and it was just 😥

I have also seen dogs in what looks like baby carriers!

We see dogs in prams all the time. People laugh but not in a mean way, it's just quite cute. It's nice for a dog to be out and about.

Know I wasn’t the original poster, but I have got my girl a pram today. She can do a long walk but if she does put the brakes on she is heavy to carry far. Here she is in her new wheels.

Awwwwww! Your dog is beautiful! That's the precise issue with have with our dog, if it's a nice day, not too tot for her she can walk a good distance but when she stops, that's it and she's a big chunk to carry. And it's really limited where we take her. The pram is going to give us a whole new lease of life!

I go my elderly boxer x lab
the large version of this and she got to enjoy some outings that she wouldn't have been able to attend without. People tended to looks amused but not mean if you get what I mean.. We lost her last month and only used it 4 or 5 times but it was worth it.

My toddler nephew rode in with her at one point!

I bought this one for my elderly dog.

Not cheap but have a look on ebay they do come up.

Think comfort for your dog, practicalities for you. If you go offroad or just on pavements, it still needs to be comfy.

Mine has solid tyres, air tyres puncture and we go offroad so I knew that would be a worry getting a puncture in the middle of nowhere.

The basket underneath is so handy for water, bowls. I adore ours and use it now for my puppy who is not walking for long (5 mins per month of age)

The chariot is here! And just in time, she's in to have her teeth cleaned tomorrow and this is going to make getting her home again SO much easier.

I think she likes it...

My daughter has two young Spaniels and an older dog who was given to her by a friend because she couldn't look after her. They have a little dog pram for her when they go on long walks as it's too much for her. She sits in her pram and loves it as she not missing out.

My dog had an operation for hip dysplasia when he was very young and it was at an animal teaching hospital miles away from where I lived. I took him on the train because it seemed easier, and put him in one of those little crates on wheels that you pull behind you like a suitcase.

I wanted to get a pram for him but I was too embarrassed, so I used the crate instead. I have always always regretted it. He was sore after the operation and the crate was bumpy and it must have hurt him.

He is older now and slowing down, and I won’t hesitate to get a pram for him in a year or two when walking becomes difficult. He has been the most wonderful companion and I don’t want him to miss out on a moment’s pleasure in his last years. Who cares what anyone else thinks? I know now that it doesn’t matter a bit.
