Taking kids to and from school,
Every afternoon collecting from one school, going to another and then taking them to various after school activities every night of the week. Basically spending no time at home with the children ?

What do you mean by job? As in someone being paid to do it? Does it matter if it's rewarding if it pays the bills?

Coop80 · 08/09/2021 18:42

Is this some kind of child minding job you have found?

MojoMoon · 08/09/2021 18:43

Depends how much you are getting paid to do it

AcrossTheLane · 08/09/2021 18:44

It's a job change.
A role which has gone from mostly collect the kids then bring home and stay there. To now mostly just going from school to activity.

Being a SAHM isn’t a job

pinkyredrose · 08/09/2021 18:44

Why do they have activities every night? Can you work it out so that there's a few free nights?

ButterflyAway · 08/09/2021 18:44

Childminders/after school carers generally do find their jobs enjoyable or fulfilling in my experience yes. As a parent, no I really don’t find that aspect of parenting rewarding but it needs to be done and the alternative is opting out of parenting, which would make me a shitty parent.

AlvinSimonTheo · 08/09/2021 18:44

So you were a nanny and now you're a transport service?

NinjaExodus · 08/09/2021 18:46

I'd be well happy with it. Bit of taxi driving then time to sit and read a book in peace waiting for the activity to finish.

However, I wouldn't if I was someone who did find childcare rewarding so if this is what's been done to your nanny job then YANBU to be disappointed.

The timetable is probably set by what’s best for the children- as it should be, rather than whether you find it rewarding or not.
