LOL

My friend has started using LOL as punctuation. It's crept in slowly over a few months but now it's every other message

'Still at work lol'

'I'm going out tonight lol'

'Yes I heard about that lol'

None of these things are funny. I don't think she is laughing out loud. It's really grating on me now.

Is this a thing?

Would I BU to ask what's so fucking funny?

Usual disclaimer, lighthearted post

Could she think it means something else? My friend thought it meant lots of love 🤣🤣

See lots of love wouldn't fit either....

My father in law thinks LOL means 'lots of love'.

We found this out, when we got a text saying, X just died suddenly LOL.

She's a bit behind the curve, I think. Most people have stopped using 'lol' but when they did, it was as punctuation, which was irritating as you suggest.

The young uns tend to use the skull 💀 emoji to indicate something's funny these days (i.e dead from laughing) and using the cry laughing 😂 emoji is only for boomers (or so I'm told by my teenagers who think I'm a boomer even though I'm too young).

I’m guilty of this habit recently as well lol!

send back "Lol? What is so funny about that, that I should be laughing out loud?"
