To think that the Girls Grammar school (Newstead Wood) is soley responsible for the all-round women that both Dina Asher Smith and Emma Raducanu have become.

I suggest that the sole reason, both Emma Raducanu and Dina Asher Smith are such well rounded individuals and of cause brilliant sportswomen, is down to their single sex grammar school educations.

I say this because I notice a number of posters suggestive that single sex grammar schools are highly toxic, thus destroying many girls.
I have noted how over the years that Newstead Wood has been referenced regularly, for being a toxic environment, like Emma and Dina this is my old school. Finally, perhaps controversially I believe that if Emma or Dina had been educated in a mixed Comprehensive school, neither would have ever reached the heights both have or will.

OP if you listen to Desert Island Disc with David Beckham who is the most capped English player (or was at the time of broadcast) and UN Goodwill Ambassador. He didn't mention a grammar school (or scandals in the staff room) but the dedication him and of his parents

This is hilarious! I also went to Newstead (waves to all the fellow eagles/budgies) but the PE there was awful! Few people cared about it when I was there. I think if 5 or 6 top sports women had come through the school, we could claim it was responsible, but 2 is surely just a coincidence.

Should this one be called 'Am I Talking Utter Bollocks' ?

Never heard of either of them, but I assume that if they have done well, the dedication and skills of their parents will have been more of an influence than their school.

If you want to lobby for more single sex grammar education I have no issue with that, but this post just seems weird.
