Postnatal prolapse 5 weeks pp and terrified!

I gave birth to my first baby 5 weeks ago after a traumatic labour ending in a forceps delivery. I have recently noticed a bulge at the entrance of my vagina which is really uncomfortable when walking. I feel so upset by it and guilty because it's all i can think about and have spent so much time googling. Think I must have a grade 2 rectocele.

I have booked a women's physio appointment but I'm just wondering if anyone has been able to get rid of the uncomfortable bulge with physio and pelvic floor or whether ill need surgery. The thought of living with the discomfort forever is terrifying. I'm a really active person and I also want to go on to have more children.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has had this experience or anyone who might be able to offer reassurance. Thank you so much.

I've had it noticeably after both births. Definitely worth going to see a women's physio, and try and do your pelvic floor exercises regularly but I did find it got a lot better with time. Your body is still full of hormones and still recovering, so don't panic!
I find mine comes and goes, if I don't do regular pelvic squeezes but I did start running this summer, after being convinced I'd never run again.
I know it's horrible when you first realise, but it will settle down. For now try not to do anything that might exacerbate it, like walking for hours or carrying heavy loads.

Thanks so much for responding @BoredOfCbeebies. That's really reassuring and great that you've been able to get back into running!

Can I ask what type of prolapse you had and how long it took for you to see improvements? I feel so uncomfortable walking because of the bulge and not sure whether that means I shouldn't be doing it. My physio appointment is at the end of the month so not sure what I should be doing in the meantime in terms of light exercise.

Hello, I'm in a similar situation 4 years on! If you're still there @Hello1312, what happened in the end? Thank youuu
