To ask if it’s safe to take 2 Diazepam?

I did something to my back at the weekend and have been in agony since Sunday evening. I finally admitted defeat this morning and went to the dr, he prescribed me some Diazepam as it’s gone into spasm. I’ve never taken Diazepam before, he said take 1, 3 times a day, but that if 1 doesn’t work to take 2 at the same time.

I took one this morning at 11.30, tbh, it did relieve it a bit but not loads. The pain has now fully come back as I haven’t taken another one since. I’m thinking of taking 2 like he suggested but am a bit worried as I know it’s a beta blocker. I know he wouldn’t have suggested it if it wasn’t safe but I’m such a worry wort and hate taking medicine/ pain relief but equally, would like a more pain free evening if poss.

I’m in for the night now, don’t need to drive etc.

You've had professional medical advice from a qualified person. Why are you asking a bunch of randoms on line instead of following the Doctor's advice?

I’m genuinely not being sarcastic but what do u think is going to happen to you? 2mg is a very low dose. Taking twice that with dr endorsement you will be absolutely fine

@CFEC So you went to a doctor, got given medical advice by said doctor but you choose not to believe that until randoms on the internet confirm it. Why would you think that someone on an internet forum would be more qualified to advise you on this than an actual medically trained professional?
If you were unsure of exactly what the doctor said surely your first port of call would be to phone the surgery or ask the pharmacy.

Taking 4mg at a time is fine. My prescription is 5mg and I regularly take two at a time but have taken up to four when needed which my doctor is aware of. Diazepam can cause drowsiness/ feeling spaced out so don’t plan to drive until you know how taking the double dose will effect you and never mix diazepam with alcohol.

Well, the 2mg 3 times a day did absolutely zilch so yesterday and today I took 4mg, 3 times a day. It definitely helped more but still didn’t entirely relax the muscle. I’m going to give it a rest for a bit now anyway as dr said only to take them for 3 days. I have 14 left so I’ll leave it a week as it has settled down somewhat and see if it improves and hopefully I won’t need to take anymore, but if I do, I think I’ll take 6mg as a one off to see if that makes a real, noticeable difference as different people have different tolerances and I think I may have a high tolerance or something Blush

That's a really low dose , my doctor used to prescribe me 10mg for my back.
