AIBU to think that if you broadcast everything on whatsapp status : friends you meet and parties you have attended ,food you made you .there is something missing in your life ? no judgement please just honestly what you all think ?

no judgement please just honestly what you all think

Ha ha ha!!!

Cyrsethatballoon · 02/09/2021 22:54

I've never seen it but surely it's no different to any other social media.

NotMyCat · 02/09/2021 22:55

If you don't agree with it or like it, don't look at it maybe?
It's like clicking on to someone's onlyfans account and tutting that they're nude Grin

Bitofachinwag · 02/09/2021 22:56

I don't have Whatsapp.

CambsAlways · 02/09/2021 22:56

Nobody on my WhatsApp does it

SmidgenofaPigeon · 02/09/2021 22:56

People have been spouting inane shite on social media for years so it’s nothing new.

Travielkapelka · 02/09/2021 22:57

That’s a new one for me. Never seen it before

TwooThirty · 02/09/2021 23:00

no judgement please just honestly what you all think ?
Hmm

I think if you don’t like it don’t click on it. You’re not being forced to watch them.

Yabu WhatsApp status aka stories have been a thing waaaaaay before Facebook & Instagram stories.

Also yabu for looking at people's status and then judging them. It's not mandatory to look!

ImInStealthMode · 02/09/2021 23:07

Just went to investigate. Who knew!? None of my contacts appear to use it (at least not recently enough for me to see it).

Can't see the point to be honest, I tend to leave Whatsapp with the conversation I was on still open, and then go back in via a notification straight into that conversation. I'm only ever on the messenger screen, or the list of active/past conversations. Had no idea about this status thing.

DarkDarkNight · 02/09/2021 23:08

Never seen it done in WhatsApp but it’s annoying enough on FB and Insta.

00100001 · 02/09/2021 23:10

But...you have to swipe to see the statuses..

I had to look for it in the app, they're very easy to ignore..

OhFFSnevermind · 02/09/2021 23:11

I ahve have a few friends/acquaintances/older relatives who regularly post using the status feature. It's mostly memes, affirmation type thingies, local events and activities - very rarely of what they get up to.

My 21 year old nephew told me it's considered 'sad' amongst his generation to post on the whatsapp status. But then they use snapchat for that kind of mundane every day stuff, whereas many 40+ don't have that and post on whatsapp instead. Same shit, different pile as they say.

00100001 · 02/09/2021 23:11

Is this actually just an ad for status updates in WA because no fucker uses it?

Sparklesocks · 02/09/2021 23:14

You asked for no judgement. I don't see how anyone can answer it without passing judgement!

I agree, you can’t really say whether or not someone has ‘something missing in their life’ because they occasionally post a photo of their dinner without judging them in some way.

FibroidFanny · 02/09/2021 23:16

Quite simply a lot of people like to attention seek, and any form of social media gives them the possibility of attention and validation

TartanJumper · 02/09/2021 23:17

I have never once read a WhatsApp status, I don't care what people put on there.
I check my messages and exit (I have them all on mute so I have to physically go in every now and then!)

BrimfulOfBaba · 02/09/2021 23:17

It's seen as quite normal for some people to share what they're up to. Some do it to show off, some to share with friends and family. Why does it bother you so much?

BoredZelda · 02/09/2021 23:25

My question is still unanswered smile

Because they want to.

NashvilleQueen · 03/09/2021 04:57

1 or 2 or your friends do this and it's irritated you to this extent?!

Whenever I look at people's what's app status (which is extremely infrequent) it hasn't changed for years.

Really couldn't get worked up about this

northstars · 03/09/2021 05:03

A couple of my contacts update theirs regularly. I’m not interested so I don’t look. It’s easy enough to ignore Smile

torquewench · 03/09/2021 05:10

The only person I've seen do this is my technophobe 78 years old dad, it's always his profile pic. He can barely send a message via WhatsApp, so that isnt intentional as he wouldn't know how or what it even is.

WhensomeonementionsMN · 03/09/2021 05:21

I’m guessing you don’t use Facebook or Instagram OP?

StCharlotte · 03/09/2021 07:00

Only one friend does this and I only know because she's asked me (in person Grin) if I've seen her status.

She's not on Facebook.

Tinkerbellfluffyboots79 · 03/09/2021 07:38

I just use it to send pics to mu mum etc had no idea this was a thing, I don’t send pics of my dinner to anyone. People have too much time on their hands
